Theme: Overview of Medical Management and other Strategies. March 17 2023 Calapan City Convention Center

It was the first face-to- face convention for the society since the pandemic began.
Highlights of the day include: the General Assembly, OMMS Constitution Ratification and Election for 2023-24 Executive Council.

OMMS 2022- 23:
2023 Oriental Mindoro Medical Society Art Fair For A Cause.
It was a refreshing sight to see doctors in a different light, as OMMS featured six of its member-artists and two auxilliary members in an exhibit of their art works in the Calapan City Convention Center last March 16-17 2023. Dr Wee Elpedes, Dr Rhoda Goco and children Dr Robi and Angel , Dr Imelda Soller, Dr Buds Sebastian , Dr Mike DelaPaz and Ms Bea Priela (daughter of Drs Manny and Ingrid Priela) displayed their beautiful creations to the pleasure and amusement of art enthusiasts including Calapan City Mayor Malou Morillo. What made the affair more meaningful was that proceeds of the art fair were all for the charitable works of the society.

OMMS 2022-23: MANGROVE REHABILITATION PROGRAM: A Gift to Future Generations

The Mahal na Pangalan Mangrove Rehabilitation Program was started in 2004 by the Halcon Mountaineering Society under a grant by the UN Development Programme. The OMMS, under the leadership of Dr. Rhoda Goco, as well as the Phil. Academy of Family Physicians-Oriental Mindoro were early partners in the program, adopting specific areas of the site. The OMMS continued its regular planting activities in the site even after the project was eventually turned over to the barangay. Under the term of Dr. Marpheo Marasigan, the OMMS teamed up with the MMG Hospital to sponsor the regular maintenance of the areas we replanted by hiring personnel to regularly tend to the young saplings.

Over the years, we have seen the mangrove forest gain ground, offering better protection against adverse weather to the local residents, serving as a breeding ground for marine life and, ultimately, providing a chance at a better future for the next generation.
