Kasalukuyang pinagiingat ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan (DOH) ang lahat higit lalo ang mga residenteng malapit sa Bulkang Taal dahil sa mataas na antas ng sulfur dioxide emission mula dito na nagdudulot ng volcanic smog o vog.

Ang usok o VOG ay masama sa kalusugan na maaring magdulot ng iritasyon sa mga mata, lalamunan at respiratory tract na maaring maging malubha depende sa konsentrasyon o tagal ng pagkalanghap.

Just days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared mpox (monkeypox) a global health emergency, the Department of Health (DOH) announced the detection of a new case of mpox in the Philippines.

This new is a 33-year-old Filipino male with no travel history outside the Philippines.
Prior to this, the last mpox case was detected in December 2023. The DOH said all previous mpox cases "were isolated, cared for, and have since recovered."

Mahalaga ang pag-iingat lalo na kung ikaw ay naninirahan malapit sa Bulkang Taal o sa mga lugar na apektado ng abo at alburong bulkan (Vog) mula dito. Narito ang mga hakbang na maaari mong sundan:

1. Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated with official announcements from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST) and local authorities. This will help you understand the current volcano status and receive any warnings or recommendations.

2. Wear Masks: When in an area with Vog, wear N95 respirators or masks designed to filter out small particles to protect your respiratory health.

3. Stay Indoors: Whenever possible, stay indoors to avoid inhaling ash and harmful gases. Ensure windows and doors are sealed properly to prevent Vog from entering your home.

4. Avoid Driving: If not necessary, avoid driving on roads covered with volcanic ash to prevent reduced visibility and potential engine damage.

5. Protect Animals: Ensure your pets and livestock have enough food and water, and keep them in a safe, sheltered area.

6. Prepare an Emergency Kit: Have an emergency kit ready with essential supplies like food, water, flashlights, and communication devices.

7. Follow Authorities' Instructions: Adhere to the instructions and guidance provided by local authorities and volcano experts. Evacuate if advised to do so.

Here are 5 tips to help you sleep better:

🔹 Be consistent. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning, including on the weekends.
🔹 If possible, make your sleeping area quiet, dark, relaxing and at a comfortable temperature.
🔹 Limit your use of electronic devices, such as TVs, computers and smart phones, before sleeping.
🔹 Avoid large meals, caffeine and alcohol before bedtime.
🔹 Get some exercise. Being physically active during the day can help you fall asleep more easily at night.
