HERALD NEWS | ICC PEER COUNSELORS ORGANIZATION CREATES MINDFULNESS BOOTH FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
The ICC Peer Counselors Organization launched a Mindfulness Activity Booth on October 7, 2025, at the ICC Waiting Shed and Ramp Gate to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month. Aligned with the theme "Access to Services—Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies," this initiative, led by the student mental health advocacy group known as "Peerkadas," aimed to promote mental well-being and provide accessible resources to the ICC community during the month of October 2025.
The Mindfulness Activity Booth featured five stations promoting student well-being. Participants completing all stations received the opportunity to spin the "Wellness Wheel of Prizes" for stickers, keychains, bookmarks, or a group hug.
The first station, named Message of Hope, offered students uplifting words to encourage them throughout the day. At the second station, entitled Letters from the Heart, participants wrote encouraging messages for others and posted them on a designated safe wall. Upon completing these two activities, participants received a blue ribbon to wear as a symbol of their participation in Mental Health Awareness Month.
The third activity, Sea of Surrender, invited students to anonymously write down their worries and struggles and deposit them in a confidential stress box for disposal. The fourth station, namely Kaya Mo Yarn! , provided boxes of colored yarn with different affirmations, which participants wrapped around their wrists as a reminder of self-worth and support.
At the final station, The Healing Lines, students used colored chalk to create drawings on a black illustration board, expressing their emotions and promoting healing. Finally, after receiving a token of appreciation for their participation, a Polaroid photobooth was available, enabling students to capture and share their experiences from the event.
Ms. Allysa Maisa, president of the ICC Peer Counselors, emphasized that these activities embody the organization's core mission to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and offer hope to fellow students.
The ICC Peer Counselors Organization expressed their appreciation to the ICC Guidance Service Center, Ms. Connie Manalo of the ICC Peer Counselors Organization Adviser, Mr. Lyndon Dela Cruz, Head of the Student Welfare Unit, Mr. Ferdinand A. De Leon, the school executive vice president, and Mr. Marcelino Vincente Agana, the school president, for their invaluable support in making the Mental Health Awareness Month celebration a success.
