Today, March 3, 2026, at the Maayon Primary Health Care Facility I, Maayon, Capiz, Mr. Joeffry M. Espiritu, DOH Representative, conducted an orientation on Republic Act No. 7883, otherwise known as the “Barangay Health Workers’ Benefits and Incentives Act of 1995.”
The activity aimed to deepen the understanding of our Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) on their rights, privileges, and responsibilities under the law. RA 7883 institutionalizes benefits and incentives for accredited BHWs, including allowances, insurance coverage, access to training and career development opportunities, and other forms of government support in recognition of their vital role in delivering primary health care services at the grassroots level. The orientation also provided clarification on accreditation requirements, duties and responsibilities, and the shared commitment of the Local Government Unit and partner agencies to uphold and protect the welfare of our BHWs.
This initiative reflects our continued commitment to empowering our frontline health workers and strengthening community-based health programs in Maayon.
