Boholana weightlifter Vanessa Sarno secured her spot for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This was after she finished well in the top 10 Olympic Qualifying Rankings in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup on April 7, 2024, in Phuket, Thailand.

Sarno competed in Group B of the 71kg category and set a new Philippine record in the sn**ch by lifting 110kg in her third attempt. She then cleared 135 in her second clean & jerk for 245kg.

The 20-year-old pride of Bohol, who stayed placed in the fifth spot, is paving the way for the Philippines to have its biggest weightlifting contingent in the Olympics in nearly four decades.

On behalf of all Boholanos, the provincial government congratulates Vanessa Sarno for a job well done, and good luck with your journey to the Paris Olympics!

Nagpahimangno si Provincial Health Officer Dr. Yul Lopez ngadto sa mga ginikanan nga kanunayng bantayan ang ilang mga gagmayng anak ilabi na niadtong masuso nga mao karon ang vulnerable o delikado mataptan sa sakit nga pertussis.

Ang probinsya sa Bohol sa pagkakaron aduna nay 14 ka mga kumpirmadong kaso sa pertussis. Hinoon walay nakalas bisan dunay mga natahu nga namatay sa ubang probinsyal dinhi sa Central Visayas tungod sa maong balatian.

Usa sa mga tambag ni Lopez sa mga ginikanan nga kon mahimo ilikay una ang mga bata nga mahagwa sa bisan kinsa aron masiguro nga di matakdan. Kini human usab nakadawat og impormasyon si Lopez nga dunay kaso sa pertussis sa laing probinsya kung asa ang apohan maoy nakatakod sa bata.

The UNESCO Philippine National Commission has announced that the country has submitted the practice of making Asin Tibuok, the artisanal sea salt of Bohol, as its 2025 Nomination to the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.

The dossier submission was prepared for seven months by the local Boholano community, specifically the concerned cultural bearers of Asin Tibuok making, such as the salt makers, pottery makers, and coconut farmers.

They were guided by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts with the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Center for Culture and the Arts Development, the Bohol Arts and Culture Heritage Council, the National Museum of the Philippines- Bohol, the Local Government Unit of Alburquerque, in submitting the dossier application,

Heritage preservation is part of the commitment of the provincial government, under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, in its strategic governance agenda for growth and development.

HEALTH ADVISORY ON HIGH HEAT INDEX

The Provincial Government of Bohol echoes the warnings issued by the Department of Health (DOH) against heat-related illnesses that are becoming more prevalent with extreme temperatures.

According to reports from
PAG-ASA, several locations across the country breached temperatures over 41 degrees Celsius since March 28
Temperatures ranging from 33 to 41 degrees Celsius fall under
"extreme caution", while temperatures reaching 42 to 51 degrees Celsius are considered as "danger."

The Provincial Government has formed a task force led by our Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and the Provincial Health Office to monitor and assess the situation on the ground, make necessary preparations, and increase awareness.

The Provincial Government has also reached out to DepEd Division of Bohol on the matter to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students. As agreed, DepEd's District Supervisors will coordinate with their respective Municipal Local Government Units on the suspension of classes whenever the need arises.
