The VSMMC Auditorium became a venue for life-saving education and community advocacy as barangay health workers and residents of Barangay Sambag 2 gathered for the Organ and Tissue Donation Advocacy Campaign Lecture, organized in partnership with the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development on August 27, 2025.

The session focused on raising awareness about the significance of deceased organ and tissue donation, underscoring how a single donor can save and improve the lives of multiple patients in need. A key highlight of the lecture was the debunking of common myths and clarification of misconceptions that often deter individuals from registering as organ donors—addressing concerns related to religion, medical ethics, and eligibility.

Participants left the event better informed, inspired by life-saving stories, and empowered to become advocates for organ donation. They took a Pledge of Commitment to support and promote organ and tissue donation in their communities. The event also celebrated a hopeful outcome with new donor sign-ups, marking a meaningful step toward building a stronger donation culture.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated, pledged, and supported this advocacy. Through collaboration and education, we move closer to a future where more lives are saved through the gift of organ and tissue donation.

An Honor Walk is a solemn and respectful ceremony held to commemorate a patient whose family has consented to organ donation, typically after the patient has been declared brain dead and maintained on artificial ventilation. As the patient is transported to the operating room or a waiting ambulance for organ procurement, hospital staff, along with the patient's family and friends, line the hallways in silent tribute. This powerful gesture honors the patient's and family's selfless decision to give the gift of life to others, offering a moment of reflection, gratitude, and dignity.

It is a great honor for us to be part of this significant milestone for Eastern Visayas. While we recognize the efforts of every team involved, the highest tribute belongs to the deceased donor… whose ultimate act of generosity gave others a second chance at life.
