Camp Lapulapu Dental Dispensary celebrates the 22nd National Dental Health Month

CLDD participated in the 22nd National Dental Health Month with the theme "Dentista'y Kaagapay sa Ngiting Walang Humpay" with a lecture regarding Oral Health Awareness to the Units, Military personnel, and Civilian Human Resource within Visayas Command. The lecture emphasized the importance of Oral Health in connection to our overall systemic health and the importance of seeing a dentist at least 2 times a year in line with this year's NDHM theme. CLDD also gave a short lecture regarding oral hygiene to the aspiring soldiers of the AFP.

These activities promote oral health awareness that greatly contribute to the overall well-being of our troops and the filipino people.

Assumption of Chief of Office Ceremony

Camp Lapulapu Dental Dispensary successfully conducted its Assumption of Chief of Office Ceremony last 16 January 2026 at Messhall, CLSH, Camp Lapulapu, Brgy. Apas, Cebu City. It highlights the change of leadership, duties, and responsibilities from the Officer-In-Charge, LTC JOVAN C DAVID DS to the unit’s newly designated Commanding Officer, LTC CYPRUS B LEGASPINA DS (GSC). The ceremony was presided by none other than the Chief, Dental Center, AFP, COL EISEN M PERDIDO DS (GSC)

As he formally assumes position, LTC LEGASPINA DS (GSC) commits to provide professional, timely, and compassionate dental service to our soldiers and their families, so that they remain mission-ready and confident in the field and to strive for a workplace founded on discipline, teamwork, and respect, where every member—officer, enlisted, and civilian—knows that his or her contribution matters.

Speeding and Speaking up towards a VAW-free Philippines

From 25 November to 12 December 2025, the Camp Lapu-Lapu Dental Dispensary (CLDD) participated in the 18-day campaign to End Violence Against Women. One of the highlights is the conduct of a seminar pertaining to having a safe workspace. The activity was held at the lounge of CLDD last 04 December and attended by the dental personnel. The invited lecturer is Ms. Abenabel A. Lopecillo, Civ Hr, social worker, and member of the GAD Focal Point Committee, CLSH, AFPMC. She emphasized the salient features of Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act. The CLDD is speeding and speaking up towards a VAW-free environment.

Continuous learning for professional growth, ensures safety and mission accomplishment:

Last 12-14 November 2025, SSg Jeffy G. Laag, duty maintenance personnel of Camp Lapulapu Dental Dispensary, participated in the Dental Equipment Repair and Maintenance Training (DERMT) program by the AFP Dental Center held at AFPDC, Camp Colonel Victoriano K. Luna, V. Luna Avenue, Quezon City.

The training is crucial in maintaining dental equipment, specifically the dental chair and its components, that are essential in providing quality dental services to our military personnel, their dependents, and the community as a whole.

The CLDD extends its gratitude to the leadership of AFPDC for the support and guidance given to the unit in accomplishing its mission.

Stakeholder engagement towards a common goal

The Camp Lapulapu Dental Dispensary, AFP,DC provides dental services to AFP military personnel, their dependents, and authorized civilians within the Central Visayas region. Further, this dental dispensary extends its services to the community as part of AFP's Civil Military Operations through the use of a Mobile Dental Care Unit, also known as the DOH Dental Bus. At present this unit advocates the Preventive Dentistry program.

That being said, on 20 November 2025, LTC JOVAN C DAVID DS and CPT MICHAEL ANGELO L BONIFACIO DS received preventive dental materials and equipment such as light-curing machine, ultrasonic scaler, highspeed handpiece, restorative and fluoride materials from DOH Central Visayas Center for Health Development, headed by Dr. Joshua Brillantes with Dr. Jonathan Neil Erasmo, OIC-Assitant Regional Director, and Dr. Edsel Roseus L Villas, Oral Health Program Coordinator.

Said dental equipment and materials will greatly augment the provision of quality dental services within the unit's AOR.

Utilization of Mobile Dental Care Unit for HADR Operations:

On 06 November, LTC JOVAN C DAVID DS, OIC, CLDD, visited the head office of the Office of Civil Defense Region 7 - Central Visayas to conduct coordination with DSWD and other AFP & government agencies pertaining to the relief operations for those families affected by Typhoon Tino. In the afternoon, Sgt Jeffy Laag, PAF, went to the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Barangay Jubay, Municipality of Liloan, purposely to make initial coordination with barangay officials on the status of the evacuation center.
On the following day, the CLDD team, using the Mobile Dental Care Unit (MDCU), proceeded to Barangay Cotcot and Barangay Jubay, all in the Municipality of Liloan, Cebu, to deliver immediate essential oral health services to the displaced families and further conduct surveys on needed dental care for future dental activities.

The CLDD will continue the participation on the deployment of MDCU supporting HADR during calamities to provide free, essential oral health services to affected communities with limited access to fixed health facilities.
