🎤𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐋𝐄𝐃𝐆𝐄 𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐑

In the first episode of 𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, members of the Asian Medical Students’ Association – University of Northern Philippines (AMSA–UNP) visited Puro National High School to conduct an engaging and informative lecture on 𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐞—two pressing public health concerns, especially post-typhoon.

As future medical professionals, we continue to uphold our advocacy of promoting health through education and community engagement. During the session, students were empowered with knowledge on disease prevention and early recognition. The leptospirosis lecture emphasized access to prophylaxis, while the dengue discussion highlighted the vital role of students and the youth in community-based vector control and awareness.

Through AMSAlita, we believe that awareness is the first step to prevention, and even small steps, when taken together, can lead to meaningful change.

On August 02, 2025, the Asian Medical Students’ Association – University of Northern Philippines (AMSA–UNP) successfully conducted 𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐢 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧, a relief operation dedicated to supporting the students and residents of Puro, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur who were affected by the recent typhoon.

AMSAgip 2025: Tulong para iti Kailian was made even more meaningful through your generosity and compassion to our kailians. We were able to raise a total of ₱𝟐,𝟓𝟗𝟖.𝟗𝟑, which helped provide essential goods and immediate assistance to the community. The initiative served not only as a response to physical needs, but also as a symbol of compassion and unity in times of hardship.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed their time, resources, and effort to make this mission possible. Your unwavering support fuels our commitment to serve.

Together, we continue to prove that bayanihan lives on.

📣 Action Pillar 💙🌾

The heart of AMSA–UNP beats strongest in times of need. Through AMSAgip 2025: Tulong para iti Kailian in partnership with Mu Relief we were able to extend not only relief, but also hope and health education to the resilient community of Puro National High School and Barangay Puro, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur.

From our AMSAlita on Leptospirosis and Dengue to the meaningful distribution of goods and water filtration systems, we witnessed the power of bayanihan in action. This is what it means to serve beyond the classroom—to be vessels of compassion, courage, and change.

💡𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝟐.𝟎: 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡

Did you know that the 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 have 7.5% prevalence of diabetes in adults with over 4,726,300 of total cases of diabetes in 2024 🤯. Here in the 𝙄𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣, between 2016 and 2022, a total of 115,112 diabetes cases have been recorded, and Ilocos Sur alone has 902 added cases.

For the last day of July, let’s raise awareness about diabetes: what it is, who’s at risk, and how we can prevent or manage it through early detection, healthy habits, and support.
