The College of Health Sciences will recognize 121 Academic Scholars during the 47th USM Recognition Program for the 2nd Semester of AY 2023-2024 and the 1st Semester of AY 2024-2025 on March 13, 2025, with Lance Gabriel O. Loberiza from the Pharmacy Department emerging as the top scholar from the college.

A total of 2,437 students from the University of Southern Mindanao-Main Campus (USM-Main) qualified as academic awardees for the second semester of the academic year 2023โ2024 and the first semester of the academic year 2024โ2025.
This 47th edition recorded a 24.06% decrease in academic scholars from the 46th editionโs total of 3,209, which had already seen a 13.62% drop from the 45th editionโs 3,715 marking the second consecutive decline in the number of academic awardees.
College of Education (CED) recorded the highest number of awardees at 458, followed by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) with 433, College of Business, Development, Economics, and Management (CBDEM) ranked third with 347 awardees, while the College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences (CHEFS) had 267, and College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) with 186 awardees.
Meanwhile, College of Agriculture (CA) had 142 awardees, followed by the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) with 122 and the College of Health Sciences (CHS) with 121.
Furthermore, the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) recorded 99 awardees, while the Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (ISPEAR) and the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies (IMEAS) had 93 and 95 awardees, respectively, whereas the College of Trades and Industries (CTI) had the fewest awardees, with 74.
BS Applied Mathematics student Manuel A. Lisondra from CSM topped the list with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 1.088 for the second semester of A.Y. 2023โ2024 and 1.136 for the first semester of A.Y. 2024โ2025. This is Lisondra's second time leading the rankings, following his achievement in the previous edition.
Students with a GPA of 1.00โ1.50 are recognized as University Academic Awardees (UAA), while those with a GPA of 1.51โ1.75 are designated as College Academic Awardees (CAA).
USMโs 47th Recognition Program will take place on Thursday, March 13, at the University Auditorium.
