TRAGEDY AT SEA: M/V TRISHA KERSTIN 3 (ZAMBOANGA → JOLO)

A ferry carrying more than 350 passengers from Zamboanga to Jolo sank near Basilan after midnight, throwing families, children, and crew into the dark sea. At least 18 lives were lost, hundreds were rescued, and several remain missing.

Survivors described moments of terror, heartbreak, and desperation—including a father who lost his 6-month-old baby to the waves.

This tragedy reminds us of the risks of sea travel, the importance of maritime safety, and the need for stronger enforcement of safety regulations to protect lives.

May we honor the victims, support the survivors, and demand safer seas.

Nipah Virus Midtungok 2014

A single horse died at dawn.
Days later, an entire village was fighting for its life.

This video tells the story behind The Horses of Midtungok—a deadly outbreak where a silent virus moved from bats to horses, from horses to humans, and finally from human to human. What began as hunger and necessity ended in seizures, encephalitis, and loss of life.

This is not just a story of a virus.
It is a reminder that zoonotic diseases do not warn us—they exploit gaps in awareness, protection, and surveillance.

As outbreaks grow more complex, early detection, safe animal handling, infection control, and community awareness remain our strongest defense.

Watch. Learn. Remember.
