Did you know? 📣
Every August 12, we observe International Humanitarian Law Day, marking the 1949 Geneva Conventions—historic treaties designed to protect civilians, prisoners of war, and the wounded during armed conflicts. The entire month of August is recognized as IHL Month, serving as a reminder that even in times of war, there are rules to preserve human dignity and uphold humanitarian values.
Today, these principles remain critically relevant as conflicts persist in various parts of the world, such as the wars in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, and Myanmar. Such events highlight the urgent need for global adherence to IHL to protect lives, reduce suffering, and uphold a sense of humanity amid violence. ❤️🩹
