Big shoutout to Dr. Lyn Dedase, the amazing Transplant Immunologist, for an awesome didactics with our fellows!

We got to dive into Kidney Transplant Immunology and learned how to properly utilize and interpret the immunologic workup for kidney transplant patients to guide donor selection, prevent rejection, and ensure the best outcomes.

Truly a privilege to learn from the best!

Morbidity & Mortality Conference | Learning Through Reflection.

Today’s Morbidity and Mortality Conference fostered meaningful discussion and collaborative learning, with Census Presenter – Dr. Ann Abujen, Case Presenter – Dr. Hubert Alegro, and Moderator – Dr. Ramos guiding the session.

The case discussion was further enriched by the active participation of our Hepatobiliary Surgery fellow and residents, Internal Medicine residents, and IM–Gastroenterology fellow, highlighting the value of multidisciplinary perspectives in improving patient care.

👏 Thank you to everyone who contributed insights and expertise. A strong reminder that shared learning drives safer, better outcomes for our patients.

🩺🧬 Learning Straight from the Experts!

Our nephrology fellows had an enriching and eye-opening session during the Introduction to Renal Pathology lecture by Dr. Chicano, a renowned pathologist from the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).

From breaking down renal biopsy basics to making sense of complex histologic patterns, the lecture truly bridged theory and clinical practice—making renal pathology more approachable and exciting for everyone.

💡📚 Thank you, Dr. Chicano, for sharing your expertise. A truly valuable learning experience for our nephrology fellows!

Last week’s case presentation featured a comprehensive discussion on “Persistent Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease”, presented by Dr. Hubert Alegro and expertly moderated by Dr. Vida Acosta-Villanueva.

We were honored to have with us Dr. Gallemaso, our HEMA consultant, and the Internal Medicine rotators from the HEMA and GATRO services, whose insights and active participation greatly enriched the discussion.

👏 A meaningful academic exchange that reinforced evidence-based approaches and collaborative learning in nephrology.
