A Statement by the USeP Association of Biology Students

We, the members of the Association of Biology Students, recognize that there is a shortage and misdistribution of medical doctors in the Philippines. This issue deserves the utmost importance.

We recognize that the majority of our membership wishes to proceed into medicine, with the heart of serving their fellow countrymen. However, most of us are discouraged because of the high cost of medical education; or because we have to go to universities in distant regions, away from our homes.

We commend our university’s initiative in establishing a College of Medicine in the USeP-Tagum campus. As a state institution, USeP is at the forefront of providing quality and affordable education for all Filipinos.

Therefore, we humbly request the USeP administration to inform and update us regarding the establishment of the College of Medicine in USeP.

In addition, we call upon the national government, through its departments and implementing agencies, to support this initiative by our university.

The founding of a state-funded College of Medicine in the Davao region is beneficial to its people. This is pursuant to our country’s commitment of service to its citizens.
