FPOP Celebrates 56th Anniversary with the theme: โSUSTAINING PROGRESS, BUILDING RESILIENCE.โ
As the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines marks its 56th year, we proudly reaffirm our enduring commitment to the poorest, underserved, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors of our nation. Since our inception, we have championed quality s*xual and reproductive health careโdelivered with dignity, care, and precisionโreaching far-flung, geographically isolated, and depressed communities across the archipelago. This anniversary is not just a celebration of longevity, but a testament to the resilience and unwavering dedication of our volunteers, staff, and partners who continue to serve where services are most needed.
Today, however, we face mounting challenges that threaten our shared progress. At the national level, rising adolescent pregnancies, particularly among girls aged 10 to 14, alongside a sharp increase in HIV infections among Filipino youth, expose critical gaps in comprehensive reproductive health education and access. Misconceptions and disinformation have eroded public understanding, undermining efforts to pass inclusive, rights-based legislations. Political resistance to medically accurate, scientific, and age-appropriate s*x education, coupled with stigma around s*xual orientation and gender identity, further widens the divide between policy and lived realities. A total of P60 Billion of Philhealth funds intended for the poorest and vulnerable Filipinos were taken out of the institution and transferred to the national treasury. At the international front, US President Trump is set to burn $10 million worth of life saving contraceptives purchased by USAID fund rather than deliver them to couples overseas, leaving the global supply of contraceptives more precarious in poor countries.
In the face of these challenges, we stand firm. We call on educators, families, government leaders, and civil society allies to act boldly: to reject misinformation,
