Physicians' Case Study Published at Prestigious European Medical Congress
Silliman University Medical Center proudly congratulates four of its physicians whose clinical case report was accepted for publication at the European Cancer and Oncology Congress & Hematology and Blood Disorders Congress, held on April 14 to 15, 2025, in Rome, Italy.
Representing Silliman University Medical Center in the authorship of this internationally published study were Dr. Ronabel S. Laspiñas, Resident Physician; Dr. Maria Milagros D. Uy, Hematologist; Dr. Dehuel B. Cuyacot, Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine; and Dr. John Anthony D. Tindoc, Associate Pathologist of the Hospital’s Clinic Laboratory.
Their published work, titled “PDGFRB - Rearranged Myeloid Neoplasm with Hypereosinophilia in a 58-Year-Old Male: A Case Report,” highlights a rare case involving a Filipino patient who experienced persistent lymph node swelling and a chronic leg wound after returning from overseas. Further investigation led to the diagnosis of a myeloid neoplasm caused by a PDGFRB gene rearrangement, a rare blood disorder. With timely and targeted treatment, the patient showed a positive response to therapy.
This recognition brings pride to the Hospital and underscores its commitment to clinical excellence, pioneering research, and meaningful contributions to global medical science. We commend our physicians for their dedication and for advancing the Hospital's mission to provide quality and compassionate healthcare.”
