Did You know? That discoloration in your guasha/blading treatment have meaning?
1. The cause of black sha
(1) Stagnation of Qi and blood
According to traditional Chinese medicine, the appearance of black sha is related to local qi and blood circulation issues. When qi and blood are stagnant, scraping can stimulate local blood circulation, bringing the stagnant blood to the skin surface, forming dark marks.
(2) Accumulation of toxins
Blackheads may also be the result of accumulated metabolic waste or toxins in the body. Gua sha stimulates the skin and subcutaneous tissue, helping to release these toxins to the surface of the body.
(3) Chronic issue
If certain parts of the body are in a state of long-term tension, fatigue, or chronic pain, black sha may appear after scraping. For example, the black spots on the shoulders and neck may be related to long periods of desk work.
Why Does Sha Appear Dark or Black?
Blood Stagnation: Dark or black Sha often indicates areas where blood flow has been stagnant or blocked. This is common in areas of chronic tension or poor circulation.
Toxin Release: The dark color can also reflect the release of metabolic waste or toxins from the tissues into the bloodstream for elimination.
Individual Variation: The color and intensity of Sha vary from person to person, depending on their health condition, skin sensitivity, and the level of stagnation.
Is Dark Sha a Cause for Concern?
No, dark Sha is not harmful. In fact, it is a positive sign that Gua Sha is working to:
Improve circulation in the affected area.
Release tension and stagnation.
Promote healing by stimulating the body’s natural detoxification process.
The marks will typically fade within a few days, depending on your body’s healing ability.
