Are heart attacks the number one killer in the world?

According to the World Heart Federation, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s number one killer, causing over 20.5 million deaths per year.

CVD is a class of diseases that affect the heart or blood vessels (veins and arteries).

More people die from CVD worldwide than from any other cause, with 85% due to coronary heart diseases (e.g heart attacks) and cerebrovascular diseases (e.g. strokes).

That means that heart attack is the most prominent cause of death within the CVD category.

So, most likely, heart attacks and strokes are the number one killer in the world.

The heart has 4 main areas or chambers. Each is masterfully designed in such detail, that it functions perfectly to receive blood flowing into the heart and pump blood out of it. Without us telling it to, it works to keep our body functioning well.

Never miss a beat. Take care of your heart!
