As we signed the 𝙼𝙾𝙰 with our 𝙿𝚊𝚃𝙰𝙺𝚗𝚎𝚛𝚜 𝙲𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝙶𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚙 last March 26, our hearts were filled with hope—hope that the seeds we’ve planted together will continue to grow long after we’re gone. Project PATAK may be ending its stay in Barangay Camangahan, but its spirit, its purpose, and its love will live on in the people who now carry it forward.

For months, you welcomed us—not just into your homes, but into your lives. You shared your stories, your laughter, your kindness. You became our teachers, our family, our inspiration.

World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 to commemorate the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948. It raises awareness about global health issues and promotes well-being, with this year’s theme, “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures.”

Last March 24, we didn’t just plant trees—𝙬𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨! Our PaTALKS Speakers empowered Camangahan Proper with an exciting and eye-opening session on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)! 🎉💦

Huge thanks to our amazing speakers who made learning about hygiene and sanitation both fun and meaningful! 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐀𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐬 broke down 𝐏𝐃 𝟖𝟓𝟔: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 and why clean surroundings matter. 𝐌𝐫. 𝐗𝐲𝐫𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 dived into the 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐇, showing us how proper hygiene helps keep us strong and healthy. And of course, 𝐃𝐨𝐜 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐨, 𝐌𝐃. 𝐌𝐒. gave us the real talk on the 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐇, explaining why safe water and good sanitation are must-haves for a happy life!

This final PaTALKS segment was truly special, wrapping up our journey of learning, advocacy, and action for a cleaner and healthier future. 💙 From the very first talk to this last one, we’ve built a stronger awareness of WASH and its life-changing impact on our community. Last March 22 marked a milestone for Sitio Igtuba as we officially inaugurated a lifesaving water tank—a symbol of resilience, collaboration, and the right to clean water for all. 🌿

For geographically distant communities like Sitio Igtuba, access to safe and sufficient water has long been a challenge. This water tank bridges the gap, ensuring that every family, especially our Indigenous community, no longer has to walk long distances just to fetch water for daily needs. 🚰

💙 Why does this matter?
✅ Provides safe and reliable water access
✅ Reduces the burden of long and unsafe water collection
✅ Helps prevent waterborne diseases and promotes better hygiene
✅ Empowers the community towards sustainable WASH practices

As we close our paTalks series, we couldn’t have asked for a more inspiring way to end than with the vibrant community of Camangahan Proper! This final session of Project PATAK’s paTalks focused on Water Treatment and Public Health Outcomes related to WASH, highlighting the importance of safe water, proper sanitation, and hygiene in improving community health.

We were honored to have insightful discussions led by our esteemed speakers, Mrs. Arianne Tracey Holipas and Mr. Xyre Judel Zamudio, both Provincial Sanitary Inspectors, along with Doc Pearl Angeli Pedroso, MD, MS. Their expertise and dedication provided valuable knowledge that empowered participants to take proactive steps toward better WASH practices.

To reinforce these essential practices, we also distributed PATAK Kits, which included chlorine granules and basic cleaning necessities 🪥🫧. These kits serve as a vital resource for households to maintain clean water and proper sanitation, ensuring a healthier environment for all.

Last March 15, the enthusiastic and eager learners of Igmedio Drapiza IP Elementary School in Sitio Igtuba took their first step toward healthier habits! 🌱💙 Through 𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐒, ginpakita namon sa ila ang kahalagaan sang Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) – halin sa insakto nga paghugas sang kamot kag panglimpyo sang unto, kag importansya sang pagsul-ob sang tsinelas para malikawan ang lugay 🚰🧼🪥

Indi lang ini lecture—ginpa sadya guid naton ini! 🎶💃 Paagi sa interaktibo nga kanta kag aktibidad, ang mga bata nakabalo paagi sa pagsinadya. Kay kung umpisa pa lang bata, ginatudluan na, mahimo kita sang komunidad nga mas himsog kag mas-andam sa masunod nga mga tuig!

Congratulations to our very own Events & Logistics Head Lexie Lou! 🎉

Congratulations to Paul John Delos Reyes (BS in Biology) and Lexie Lou Sara (BS in Public Health) for being selected as part of the 2024 Generation of Sea and Earth Advocates (Gen SEA) Program! 🎉

Out of 601 applicants, only 80 young leaders were chosen for this incredible journey, supported by Save Philippine Seas and the Embassy of France to the Philippines and in Micronesia. Gen SEA is a platform for young Filipinos to lead projects that protect our seas and environment.

From January to March, Lexie and Paul took part in the virtual mentorship program, where they pitched and planned their community projects. This April, they will take their advocacy to the next level—implementing their projects in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines with funding and support from the program!

Their projects focus on Ocean-Climate Action, and tackles pressing environmental challenges!
