A new year is not a demand to become someone else.
It is an invitation to continue, with a little more hope, a little more patience, and a lot more kindness toward yourself.

Whatever you are carrying from the past year, you don’t have to drop it all at once. Healing happens slowly, quietly, and often in ways we don’t immediately notice. Small steps still count. Rest still counts. Simply choosing to stay still counts.

May this year bring moments of light, even on difficult days.
May you learn to speak to yourself with compassion.
May you remember that you are allowed to begin again, as many times as you need.

Happy New Year 🤍

✨ Hello, New Year ✨

A new year doesn’t mean you have to become a “new you.”
Healing isn’t about erasing the past—it’s about honoring how far you’ve come.

This year, may you:
• be kinder to yourself
• rest without guilt
• ask for help when you need it
• celebrate small victories

Growth can be quiet. Healing can be slow. And that’s okay.
Here’s to progress, not perfection. 💚

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) refer to potentially traumatic events occurring before age 18, such as abuse, neglect, or household challenges.

Research shows that repeated exposure to ACEs can affect brain development and increase the risk for long-term physical, mental, and behavioral health problems.

Understanding ACEs is an important step in prevention, early intervention, and promoting lifelong health and resilience. By raising awareness and supporting trauma-informed care, we can help break the cycle and build healthier futures for children and communities.

As we commemorate Hallow’s Eve, let us also be reminded of the real horrors that surround us—not from spirits or shadows, but from the dangers of smoking.
They say the Kapre sits atop ancient trees, smoking his cigar under the moonlight. Yet the true curse is not in the folklore, but in the smoke that steals our breath, clouds our judgment, and haunts our health.
Smoking remains one of the most preventable causes of disease and death. This season, as we face tales of fright, may we also confront the silent terror that to***co brings.
Smoking can be scarier than any creature of folklore—haunting your lungs, heart, and mind long after the night ends.
Quit now before smoking takes your soul… and your breath away.
The WVSUMC Department of Psychiatry stands with you in breaking free from addiction.
We are here to help you take the first step toward healing.
