Social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, play a vital role in the dissemination of information. It has has changed the way we communicate, do business, get our daily news fix and so much more. The most obvious pros of using social networks are the ability to instantly connect with people, know real-time news and information discovery, great opportunities for business owners, and for general fun and enjoyment.👨🏽‍💻👩🏽‍💻

However, it is no secret that there's also a dark side in using social media platforms. There is the rise of misinformation and fake news. The freedom to post any content given to social media users, paired with the lack of accountability from social media platforms enabled the proliferation of fake news. Gerard F. Gabrido of Barangay Nabitasan, Lapaz responsibly uses social media platforms and would like to stop or discredit fake news peddlers.🙋🏽‍♂️🚫

Para matapna ang mga disinformation, sa atun ginagmay nga pinaagi, pwede gid natun dayun ma-report ang mga post para insigida madelete kag ndi na mashare pagid sang iban. THE CALL FOR LIGTAS BALIK-ESKWELA! 📣📚

Covid-19 pandemic has brought many challenges and one of which is the access to inclusive and quality education. With the inevitable shift to online and modular classes, both have their own share of advantages and disadvantages. Students had to face an overwhelming increase in academic workload, internet connectivity issues, and lack of physical interaction with peers. This has brought a bigger question of what the goal of our education really is: for learning or for mere compliance?

This is why the call for “LIGTAS BALIK-ESKWELA” is at a height. This is an inclusive campaign that considers the welfare of students, teachers, and school staff by encouraging long-term, sustainable plans of action for education. In the simplest term, this pushes for a safe return to school despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Arbe Jefferson P. Lee of Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz is one of those who wishes for face-to-face classes to resume.

“My experience during this new normal is very difficult and very painful. It is difficult because there are so many new things to do and need to adjust like in school-in studying. It is difficult to study in this kind of situation and learning system because It is not easy to study on my own.

Sometimes I am overthinking by the thought that I can't do it, that I can't finish my modules because I'm also overthinking on how can I cope with this new normal because I'm not used to it. But when I get to that point, I just pray and seek guidance to the Lord and to give me wisdom and knowledge so that I am able to answer and to learn the module that is given to us.

I know that I am not the only one experiencing this, many people and students are struggling with this new normal. There are so many problems that come into our life, even though I am a still a 3rd year college student, I realized that it is not base at the age on how you can learn things in life but in our own experiences that brings lesson to us. I just need to accept and try my best to cope up with this new normal because this is what we need to move forward.

All I need to do is to forget the hardships that this pandemic brought to me. Surrounding myself with positive people and think positively is all I need to have a positive and healthy life despite the difficulties in this new normal. I know that despite all our problems and struggles in life, there will be a better future yet to come and waiting for us if we continue to study hard and persevere in our dreams.

This new normal makes me strong and more resilient in life. It is a great lesson for me and I realized that no matter how hard and painful things are going on around me, praying and putting my trust into the Lord will be my best weapon to overcome all of the problems that I have and will come to in my life.”

DENGUE ALERT! 🚨🦟

As the rainy season is coming, we need to be vigilant and intensify preventive measures against illnesses, especially Dengue. The Iloilo City Government with the leadership of Mayor Jerry Treñas highly encourages residents to do our part in protecting our children, our family and community against vector-borne diseases through constant clean-up in our surroundings and being responsible in throwing our garbage properly to avoid adding more breeding places for the vectors. Mary Con Panes Entreguena of Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz continuously practices habits that will protect us all in our homes and our community.

Gani, bilang is aka iloy ako naga kabalaka gid para sa akon bata kag sa akon pamilya. Amon guid gina sigurado nga matinlo pirmi ang amon ugsaran nga wala sang may mga naka stock ukon pundo nga tubig sa palibot nga pwede istaran kag itlogan sang lamok. Ako naga pasalamat guid sa Iloilo City Government sa dalayon nga fogging kag misting sa mga kabaranggayan kung sa diin gina patay kag gina control gid ang pagdamo sang mga lamok. 𝗛𝗕𝟭𝟬𝟳𝟬𝟵 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗛𝗕 𝟭𝟬𝟳𝟮𝟰 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚

We have great news on the first day of the House session yesterday after our election recess. Two legislative measures that we filed—𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝟭𝟬𝟳𝟬𝟵 and 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝟭𝟬𝟳𝟮𝟰—-which push the conversion of Hibao-an Elementary School into Hibao-an Integrated School, and Nabitasan Elementary School into Nabitasan Integrated School, respectively, were both approved on Third and Final Reading.

These two House Bills are among our initiatives in support of our local system. These bills seek to improve student retention and aim to offer our learners the chance to continue their secondary education these institutions. The proposed laws would set aside budgetary support needed for the school’s infrastructure and human resource requirements. Through this, we to contribute to nation-building by providing more spaces for learning that will allow our youth to lead productive lives.

We wish to thank Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, Basic Education Committee Chair Roman Romulo and all our colleagues who supported the passage of these bills.

Our gratitude as well to Mayor Jerry Treñas for the all-out support, the Iloilo City Council, and to Dep-Ed Sec. Liling Briones, Dep-Ed regional office officials, SDS Ma. Luz delos Reyes, and the men and women of Nabitasan Elem. School and Hibao-an Elementary School as well as the Barangay Officials and communities served by these schools. To the learners of these schools, these bills are for you. Let’s pray that these would become laws soon. ❤️

PHILIPPINES RANKS 4th IN THE 31st SEA GAMES VIETNAM 2021! 🏅🇵🇭🏆

As Team Philippines officially concluded the 31st Sea Games Vietnam 2021 with 52 Gold, 70 Silver, and 107 Bronze medals, this lead us to rank 4th Place among the 11 participating nations! We congratulate and greatly thank our athletes for bringing pride and honor to our country.✨🇵🇭✨

Leonardo E. Merlow, a sports enthusiasts from Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz can testify how sports can help boost one’s confidence and promote camaraderie and sportsmanship.✨

“I am Leonardo E. Merlow, a basketball enthusiast of Brgy, Nabitasan, La Paz, Iloilo City. My passion is simple. My entire life I have been passionate about basketball. Basketball was just something that I loved, and it put me in a place of control. It was a sport that I can use to escape from my troubles in the real world; a place that I can have fun.🏀⛹🏽

I am one of those many Filipinos who are so proud of our own athletes for bringing honor, pride, victory and recognition to our country. We congratulate our fellow Ilonggo, Arnel Mandala secured the country’s only gold medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games’ wushu sanda competitions. His commitment to athletics and determination to make a difference in our sport has inspired the nation and each of them who complete deserve to be recognized at this scale.✨🎖️✨

But some of the issues concerning Philippine Sports include lack of funding for athletes' training, having no standardized incentive for outstanding athletes, and delayed release of incentives for previous athletes who have won in international competitions. Judging from the experience of some athletes who have expressed their frustrations over the internet, they seem to have trouble finding funds to support their trainings in preparation for international competitions.👍🏼

Our country should boast of facilities built to cater to the needs of their athletes. As an athlete, funding should be the least of her concerns if the government has clear policy for the training of athletes. The government should promotes innovations view to helping elite athletes get better participation in sports.”🏆

Why Leni? Aside of that I believe that VP Leni is gender friendly, in favor of same-sex civil union, and supports gender equality and speaking of gender equality. I believe and hope that our next president will be women and prove to everyone that women can lead a country.
