Marking the finale of the Oathtaking Ceremony for New Nurses this July 16 stood Dr. Rosana Grace Belo-Delariarte, who took center stage at the WVSU Cultural Center to deliver her closing remarks and acknowledgements as a send-off to the nearly 400-strong newly minted professional nurses.

With pride in hand for the next generation, the National President of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) spurred the oath-takers to continue their excelling ways, assuring her confidence that they are bound to make incredible contributions in their respective careers.

โ€œAs you set forward from this ceremony, carry the spirit of your oath with you,โ€ urged Dr. Belo-Delariarte to the greenhorn registered nurses. โ€œYour journey as a nurse will be filled with challenges and triumphs. Embrace every experience, for each of these will shape you into the exceptional healthcare professional you are esteemed to be.โ€

At the coda of her speech, Dr. Belo-Delariarte sent the RNs off with a sound reminder prior to the conclusion of the event:

โ€œYou are now a vital part of our nationโ€™s healthcare battle.โ€

โ€œAs we wear this title, may we always remember the purpose why we chose nursing.โ€

These were the heartfelt sentiments of Ms. Joanna Erosa E. Villanueva, RN, Top 4 during the May 2025 Nurses Licensure Examination (NLE), as she represented on behalf of the newly pledged nurses.

She first extended her applause to the newly minted nurses for reaching this milestone, despite the challenges and demands that comes with their journeyโ€”now ready to heal and serve.

As the lone topnotcher from Western Visayas, RN Villanueva shared that, like her peers, her journey was far from perfect.

Defying superstitions and relying on Godโ€™s grace, she walked in the exam room with broken shoes held together by masking tapeโ€”she realized that imperfections must not define her.

Ending her message on a high note, Villanueva left her peers with a reminder to never lose sight of why they chose this pathโ€”and to always strive to touch every life and soul they serve.

A special highlight of todayโ€™s Oathtaking Ceremony was the recognition of an outstanding top performer in the May 2025 Nurse Licensure Examination. Ms. Joanna Erosa E. Villanueva was awarded by Hon. Merle L. Salvani, assisted by Dir. Romel B. Balisang, Regional Director of PRC-VI.

Out of the 6,935 examinees who passed this year, Ms. Villanueva of Iloilo Doctorโ€™s College achieved the Top 4 rank respectably reflecting her dedication and commitment to her studies. The award represents his/her hard work towards academic excellence and is also indicative of the school's ongoing effort to provide Nursing Education at the highest standard.

The lights hang above the ๐—›๐—ผ๐—ป. ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—Ÿ. ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ like a bundle of miniature full moons as the new nurses take after her every word.

A rite of passage. A transition from the role of a student to that of a professional. The oath does not only engrave itself in the hearts of the new nurses, but also in their future career paths, where the duties and obligations of a legally authorized nurse practitioner will always be imposed upon them.

A total of almost 400 new nurses from the region will soon be inducted, not only as a recognition of the individual achievement of the successful examinees but a collective action to elevate healthcare standards and demeanor in the communities they will serve.

In a bid to light the healing flame within the hearts of the next generation of Filipino nurses, Hon. Merle L. Salvani took to the podiums of the WVSU Cultural Center this July 16 as an inspirational speaker in the Oath taking Ceremony of New Nurses.

Hon. Salvani began her address by recognizing the many forces at work in ensuring the success of the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination (PNLE) passers, especially their families and benefactors, before lauding them for their accomplishments.

โ€œToday, you will be joining the ranks of healers, caregivers, and advocatesโ€”Filipino nurses whose expertise and excellence are known all around the world,โ€ said the Board of Nursing member. โ€œYou have earned the right to the title of โ€˜Registered Nurse,โ€™ a title that carries a legacy of care, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of others. Now, you can finally affix the letters โ€˜R.N.โ€™ to your nameโ€

She continued by giving the Nightingales a closer look in their lives as future professional nurses, prior to arming them with advice in navigating their careers with confidence, compassion, and perseverance.

โ€œThere will be long hours, difficult cases, and moments where you feel like giving up. But in those moments, remember the very reason you embarked on this pathโ€”why you chose to become a nurse,โ€ she remarked. โ€œRemember the faces of the patients you will care for, the lives you will touch, and the difference you will aspire to make.โ€

Hon. Salvani also left a striking message to the future nurses, highlighting that they too must prioritize their own wellbeing to prevent burnout and exhaustionโ€”a pervasive issue in the healthcare sector.

Before bidding the newly licensed nurses godspeed, Hon. Salvani shared her secret to success, emphasizing that success is no accidentโ€”rather, it is hard work, patience, perseverance, and most of all, love and passion for oneโ€™s chosen path.

โ€œBehind every nurse standing here today is a story of sleepless nights, anxious examinations, countless clinical duties, and endless cups of coffee.โ€

These were the striking words of ๐— ๐—ฟ. ๐—”๐—น ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฒ๐—น ๐—”. ๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฎ, President of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) - Iloilo Chapter, as he applauded the newest batch of registered nurses (RNs) during the Oath taking Ceremony held today, July 16, 2025, at the West Visayas State University (WVSU) Cultural Center.

Beria highlighted that the new nurses must never forget to look back and honor the people who helped them reach this milestone, remarking that their success is just much as theirs.

As he closed his speech, he urged the new nurses to reflect on their calling ceremony, stating: โ€œLet this not just be a celebration of achievement, but a reminder of the greater purpose ahead.โ€
