At the age of four or five, I remember writing cards or notes to my mother, posting them on a wall in our tiny living room, hoping she’d see them when she got home from work, hoping it would make her smile. I missed her everyday and I’d be the happiest kid when we had time to cuddle and snuggle or laugh and play even for just a short while, because most days are all about work… because she had to, and life wasn’t easy then.
Now that I am a mother, I cannot imagine how she went through it all. Because the difficult part wasn’t really just about having to work to put food on the table, but it was really trying to muster the courage everyday to be away from her children. How could you stretch such a tiny string, that connects them to you, long enough to get you through the day?
Everyday, I look at my child and I realize how strong my mother was. I hope I could be as strong as she has always been for us.
So, to all mothers out there and those who are yet to become one, let me remind you that you are strong, you are brave, and to your children, you are enough. ♥️
Love always,
Doc Mia
