"My name is Antonio Capuyan. I work as a construction worker, specifically as a carpenter. Due to the nature of my work, I often sweat a lot, which can lead to muscle spasms, particularly in my lower back. These spasms can be really painful. However, after undergoing physical therapy and chiropractic treatment, my spine was realigned, and I began to feel much better. My work involves a lot of heavy lifting, which often puts a strain on my back."

“Our mission was to provide chiropractic care to marginalized communities in the Philippines. Personally, I was able to assist 137 individuals—a number that feels vast and overwhelming to me. Every adjustment, every consultation, mattered. The profound impact seen in the relief, gratitude, and hope etched on the faces of those 137 souls is immeasurable.”

Chiropractic care organized by PCCHP within marginalized communities is crucial as it brings specialized, non-invasive healthcare to populations often underserved.

It addresses pain, improves mobility, and enhances overall well-being, offering relief where access to such care is limited.

Due to the absence of local chiropractors, Intercare and PCCHP created an international externship program where students from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia (RMIT) and the International Medical University, Malaysia (IMU) in Malaysia could come into the country to service medical missions.

To date, there have been 5 years of Chiropractic missions, with 76 interns who participated and 4,726 patients served.

Our advocacy is promoting the belief that chiropractic care should be available to everyone in the Philippines, regardless of their background or circumstances. We aim to improve overall health and well-being for all Filipinos by offering them a choice in their healthcare options.

Expanding PCCHP's Scope: A Community Health Initiative

PCCHP has set out to establish itself as a true community health project by broadening its reach. Integrating chiropractic care at primary levels – health centers, clinics, health posts, and community centers – as well as secondary and tertiary levels with district hospitals and the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) is the ultimate goal.

However, to achieve this, there needs to be a sufficient workforce that is educated and organized with sustainability in mind.
One solution is to provide academic scholarships in all four CICS programs to deserving individuals from different regions of the Philippines, in exchange for service agreements with communities where PCCHP has partner organizations.

These communities serve the marginalized sector of the country, and the scholarships help to create a sustainable healthcare workforce that benefits everyone involved.

Our main goal is to reduce the impact of low back pain and neuromusculoskeletal issues among Filipinos. By enhancing overall health outcomes in the country. This involves implementing strategies, healthcare initiatives, and interventions that address and alleviate the prevalence and effects of these conditions, ultimately leading to a healthier population with improved well-being.
