In accordance with Republic Act No. 11934, also known as the "Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act," all Filipinos who use cellular services, whether new or existing, must register their SIM cards with their respective telco provider. This requirement will take effect starting today, December 27.
Existing prepaid users must register within 180 days, or six months, of the Act's effectivity. Unregistered SIM cards may be deactivated automatically, but they can be reactivated within five days of deactivation.
Postpaid subscribers already have existing data with telcos, but they are still required to confirm their information and data through the online registration form provided by the telco provider.
Meanwhile, anyone who purchases a SIM card beginning today will be considered as a new SIM card user. All SIM cards sold after this date will be in "deactivated mode," and users will be able to use them only after registering through the telco provider's online registration form.
