For 95 years, the Department of Dermatology has progressed to what it is today, though limited by space and budget, it is rich in academic resources, headed by its competent Section Chiefs namely: Dr. Perpetuo D. Gutierrez, Dr. Manuel Fernandez Sr., Dr. Guillermo T. Gutierrez (1975–1985), Dr. Amelia L. Medina (1986 -1998), Dr. Clarita C. Maaño (1999 – March 2010), Dr. Francisca DC. Roa (April 2010 – 2012), Dr. Georgina C. Pastorfide (2012-2015), Dr. Ma. Frez (2016 – 2018), and Dr. Eileen Liesl A. Cubillan (2019 - present). The Department is continuously evolving and expanding; finding newer ways of improving itself through newer physical structures, equipment; continuing professional education; reaching nationally and globally, at par or better with its counterparts in the region. Nearing almost 100 years since it was established, the Department will continue to strive to be one of the country’s premiere training institutions in the field of Dermatology, as it is known today

7 tips to help take care of dry, cracked heels
Your heels are very easy to dry and crack, especially in the fall and winter. To care for dry and cracked heels, follow these tips from dermatologists:
1. Limit long bath, shower only for 5-10 minutes. Bathing for too long can dry out your skin, aggravating dry, cracked heels. Use a dry towel to gently pat your skin dry after bathing.
2. Use a gentle, fragrance-free shower gel. This will help retain the natural oils in your skin.
3. Apply moisturizer within 5 minutes of bathing, use a moisturizer containing 10-25% urea, salicylic acid apply to your heels immediately after bathing while skin is still damp and whenever your heels are you feel dry to lock in moisture.
4. Before going to bed, use a moisturizer such as vaseline, lanolin, etc. Consider wearing socks at night to enhance the ability to moisturize and prevent moisture from sticking to your bedding.
5. Protect your heels. During the day, apply a liquid bandage over the cracks in the heel to create a protective barrier, which can help relieve pain, speed healing, and prevent germs from entering the skin.
6. Wear suitable shoes. If you have dry and cracked heels, avoid shoes with open heels, such as flip flops or sandals, loafers, or shoes that don't fit properly.
7. Cracked heels can be a medical condition, like diabetes, atopic dermatitis, etc. If your dry, cracked heels are too severe or don't improve after applying these remedies. For the above method, you should visit a dermatology medical facility to be directly examined by a doctor and do the necessary tests.
