This past month was filled with so many meaningful moments. Thank you for always showing up for our patients, even with all the studying and responsibilities you had on your plate. Your dedication didn’t go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate the care and effort you gave every single day.

We’ll never forget all the big—and most especially the small—things we shared during your time with us. From quiet moments at the clinic to shared laughs and teamwork with patients, these memories will always stay with us. We’re so happy to have met you and to have had the chance to treat patients alongside you.

It was such a pleasure working with you and learning from you. We hope you felt safe and supported here and that your time with us helped you grow and appreciate our profession even more. We extend our sincerest gratitude for your service, commitment, and heart throughout this rotation. Your dedication to re-evaluating and reassessing our patients, guided by sound clinical judgment and critical thinking, has not gone unnoticed. Through your ability to reason out the “why” and “how” behind every approach, you have proven that you are well on your way to becoming exceptional Physical Therapists.

Although this month was relatively short, it was filled with growth, teamwork, and moments that reflect the strength of your character. Despite a different setup and schedule from what is usual, you adapted with grace and continued to serve with integrity. The February PT Synergy Interns Participate in the 2025 Rehabilitation Research Symposium

On February 26, 2025, the PT Synergy interns actively participated in the Rehabilitation Research Symposium: Advancing Research Methods in Rehabilitation Sciences held at the TARC Auditorium, University of Santo Tomas. The symposium provided a platform for advancing knowledge in rehabilitation research, featuring discussions on artificial intelligence in healthcare, critical appraisal, data-driven systematic reviews for evidence-based practice, digital health innovations, iOS mobile applications in rehabilitation, and the development of JBI evidence summaries for effective evidence implementation.

Throughout the event, the interns engaged in thought-provoking discussions, expanding their understanding of how research extends beyond the classroom and clinical practice, shaping the future of the profession. They also took part in the open forum, where they explored real-world applications of these advanced research methodologies.

On December 10-11, 2024, the UST-PT Synergy December interns had the incredible opportunity to participate in Balance Beyond Borders, a post-graduate course and hands-on workshop on vestibular rehabilitation held at the University of Santo Tomas. This prestigious event was facilitated by the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, the UST College of Rehabilitation Sciences, and the UST Hospital, Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, in collaboration with the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Day 1: December 10, 2024 – Laying the Foundation

The first day of the course was dedicated to a lecture series on vestibular diseases, their underlying anatomy and physiology, and the various vestibular tests used to assess patients. Interns also gained a brief yet insightful glimpse into vestibular rehabilitation, learning how it is performed and its significance in patient care. These in-depth discussions set the stage for a comprehensive understanding of vestibular dysfunction and the role of rehabilitation in managing such conditions.

Day 2: December 11, 2024 – Hands-On Application & Advanced Learning

On the second day, our interns took a deeper dive into vestibular rehabilitation and its current practices in the Philippines. They were given firsthand exposure to specialized vestibular testing equipment, including internationally recognized tools that continue to advance the field of vestibular rehabilitation. The workshop further allowed them to collaborate with the UST College of Rehabilitation Sciences, where they actively participated in manual techniques guided by expert physical therapists in the field.

Through these experiences, our interns enhanced their clinical knowledge, refined their hands-on skills, and gained a greater appreciation for the importance of vestibular rehabilitation in patient care. This event not only expanded their technical expertise but also empowered them to apply their learnings in future clinical practice.

We are beyond grateful to all the facilitators, experts, and institutions involved in making this learning experience possible. Your expertise, dedication, and willingness to share knowledge have made an immense impact on our interns’ professional growth.
