Welcome to the page of the Foundation for the Advancement of Surgical Education (FASE) Inc.

The first UP-PGH Department of Surgery Postgraduate course dates back in 1969 when Dr. Alfredo T. Ramirez, then the executive officer of the depar tment initiated short intensive postgraduate courses in surgery. Since then it became a regular educational postgraduate activity of the department. In the last fifteen years, the UP-PGH postgraduate course was titled Mastery in Surgery to highlight exceptional surgical issues as topic content with resource speakers who are experts in their own fields as key component of this event.Yearly, the scientific program varies in its content and strategy depending upon its theme. When the Foundation for the Advancement of Surgical Education (FASE) was formed in 2003, it regularly helped the department sponsor this scientific activity to realize its commitment in helping surgical practitioners nationwide in advancing their knowledge and expertise in the comprehensive management of the different surgical disorders. Proceeds of this event will be donated to the Foundation for the Advancement of Surgical Education (FASE), which will then help fund the indigent surgical patients of the Department of Surgery, UP-PGH, training of surgical residents in order to help them achieve the highest quality of surgical training that is responsive to the needs of the Filipino people and assistance in the professional development programs for the consultant staff of the Department.

The inaugural Intraoperative Nerve Monitoring (IONM) Masterclass in the Philippines is a 1.5-day program designed to advance the use of nerve monitoring in head, neck, and parotid surgeries. Led by a regional expert from Singapore and experienced local faculty, the course combines focused lectures, live surgical demonstrations, and simulator-based training to enhance both theoretical understanding and practical application of IONM techniques.
