The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), represented by Ms. Jesusa Joyce N. Cirunay, Deputy Director General of the Field Regulatory Operations Office (FROO) and Ms. Miriam A. Flora Food Drug Regulation Officer (FDRO) II - FROO, participated in the 4th Philippine Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (PACOP) Experiential Pharmacy Practice Forum, held last August 13, 2024, at the Centro Escolar University Manila.
This forum was organized by PACOP to elevate pharmacy education by revisiting and improving the experiential components of the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) program. The FDA's participation as panelists underscored the importance of aligning educational programs with regulatory standards. The forum brought together key stakeholders to discuss and revise the course plan for various experiential pharmacy practice areas, including Hospital Pharmacy, Institutional Pharmacy, Public Health and Regulatory Pharmacy, and Industrial Pharmacy.
With the FDA officials on board, the discussions were enriched by insights from the regulatory perspective, ensuring that the program enhancements would meet educational goals and adhere to the healthcare industry's stringent requirements. The agency is committed to fostering collaboration between educational institutions and regulatory bodies to maintain high standards in healthcare education and practice.
