LOOK: DOH LEADS THE BAGONG PILIPINAS SERBISYO FAIR IN ORIENTAL MINDORO
The Opening Ceremony of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair, held at Oriental Mindoro National High School on March 09, 2024, highlighted the enthusiastic involvement of the Department of Health (DOH) and the MIMAROPA Center for Health Development (CHD), in collaboration with various National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs).
Usec. Maria Francia Laxamana spearheaded the DOH contingent and was joined by CHD MIMAROPA officials, namely, Director Mario S. Baquilod, Assistant Regional Director Vilma Diez, PDOHO Team Leader, Dr. Ramon Bombais, and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cielo Angela Ante.
Speaker Martin Romualdez, along with Rep. Arnan Panaligan (Oriental Mindoro, 1st District Representative), Rep. Alfonso Umali Jr., (Oriental Mindoro, 2nd District Representative), Hon. Humerlito Dolor (Governor, Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro), and Hon. Ejay Falcon (Vice-Governor, Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro), led the event.
During the opening ceremony, DOH turned over 2 medical transport vehicles with a total amount of five million pesos (Php 5,000,000.00) to the municipalities of Socorro and Bulalacao. In addition, a number of assistive devices were also distributed to pre-identified recipients.
On its first day, the DOH offered a comprehensive range of services to 1800 constituents of Oriental Mindoro. The services included are Medical and Dental Consultation, Laboratory Services, Pharmacy Services, Mobile X-ray, HIV Caravan, Immunization Program (PPV23, HPV Vaccine), Minor Surgery Services (Minor excisions, circumcision), distribution of IEC materials for DOH Campaigns, Screening and Referral, Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine Services, Mobile Blood Donation, and Nutrition Services.
The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair remains as a commendable endeavor dedicated to fostering a healthier community that is responsive to the needs of the constituents. Aligned with the Department’s 8-Point Action Agenda, it strives to ensure the accessibility and availability of health services to all Filipinos especially to those in the far-flung areas. As for the health leaders and champions of MIMAROPA, they vowed to continue serving their patients’ best interest and inspire others to do the same with the battle cry, “Kalusugan ng mga Isla, Kayamanan ng MIMAROPA dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.”

The Department of Health (DOH) continues to support the Lab For All Caravan headed by First Lady Atty. Marie Louise "Liza" Araneta Marcos which aims to provide free medical, consultation, and pharmaceutical services, through the recent launch in Tuguegarao City Cagayan Province on February 27, 2024.
Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa partook in the opening ceremony where the DOH offered Family and Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dental, and Toilet Bowl Distribution services.
Joining First Lady Marcos among the esteemed guests are Third District of Cagayan Board Member Rodrigo De Asis, Cagayan Province Governor Manuel Mamba, Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Rosario Ting- Que, Dr. Charlie Ho of the Integrated Philippine Association of Optometrists, Inc., Philippine Health Insurance Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Ledesma Jr., Food and Drug Administration Director General Samuel Zacate, Public Attorney’s Office Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta.
“We are heartened with the First Lady’s championing the goal of making quality healthcare services accessible to our countrymen. The Lab For All Caravan is an ally for the DOH and we will continue to persevere in offering all possible assistance we can offer, Dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga,” expressed Sec. Herbosa.

The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary of Health Abdullah B. Dumama, Jr., led the establishment of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory I (CathLab) last February 15, 2024 at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City.
Usec. Dumama expressed gratitude to Senator Christopher Lawrence "B**g" Go for his unwavering support as an advocate of the DOH's aspirations and for lobbying the DOH's plans and objectives in the Senate. Moreover, Senator Go also acknowledged the significance of CathLab I and expressed his commitment to supporting DOH's initiatives to enhance healthcare infrastructure and services.
Similarly, SPMC Medical Center Chief, Dr. Ricardo Audan, proudly shared the Hall of Fame Award of SPMC in recognition of their remarkable achievements and contributions in healthcare.
The launch of CathLab marked a significant step in forwarding advanced medical capabilities aligned with one of the pillars of the 8-Point Action Agenda, _"Teknolohiya para sa mabilis na serbisyo"_, which promotes the utilization of digital health and technology for efficient and accessible delivery of healthcare services.

The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Abdullah B. Dumama, Jr., together with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), represented by Presidential Adviser Cesar Yano, led the turnover of the Rural Health Unit to the Ministry of Health - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) during the Inter-Cabinet Cluster Mechanism for Normalization (ICCMN) at Camp Rajah Muda in Pikit, North Cotabato, on February 16, 2024.
The event highlighted the ceremonial Ribbon Cutting and Turnover of Key to MOH-BARMM, which marked the positive enhancement and reinforcement of health facilities in the region, allowing accessible comprehensive healthcare and services to its population.
Further, a number of programs were conducted during the activity, such as the medical mission organized by MOH-BARMM, Special Geographic Area (SGA), Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, Cotabato Sanitarum and General Hospital, and Integrated Provincial Health Offices (IPHOs) of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur; the distribution of PhilHealth cards to all Decommissioned Combatants; turnover of wheelchairs to beneficiaries; and the distribution of monetary incentives to Barangay Health Workers.
Also present in the turnover are Minister Rizaldy Piang of MOH-BARMM; Member of Parliament (MP) Akmad "Jack" Abas, Front Commander of the Moro-Islamic Liberation Front Joint Task Forces on Camps Transformation (M**F JTFCT); Mr. Nur-Ul Yassien Dangcal of the PhilHealth Regional Office-BARMM; and MP Atty. Laisa Masuhod Alamia of the Government of the Philippines Task Force for Decommissioned Combatants and their Communities (GPH TFDCC).
Reinforcing the second point of the Department's 8-Point Action Agenda,"ligtas, dekalidad, at mapagkalingang serbisyo", the ceremonial turnover marks the objective of ensuring high-quality, safe, and people-centered services and facilities ensuring holistic care across all lifestages dahil Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.
