Ang Philippine College of Physicians (P*P) ay naglabas ng babala tungkol sa pagdami ng pagbebenta at paggamit ng compounded o hindi rehistradong GLP-1 receptor agonists tulad ng semaglutide at tirzepatide. Bagama’t napatunayang epektibo ang mga GLP-1 na gamot kapag aprubado at ginawa ayon sa tamang pamantayan, ang mga compounded o unregistered na bersyon ay maaaring magdulot ng panganib sa kaligtasan ng pasyente. Kabilang sa mga panganib ang maling dosis, hindi pare-parehong lakas ng gamot, at paggamit ng mga kemikal na hindi pa nasusuri sa clinical trials. Mayroon ding posibilidad ng kontaminasyon, kakulangan sa sterility, at pagkalat ng pekeng o maling label na gamot. Dahil hindi dumaan ang mga produktong ito sa mahigpit na pagsusuri ng FDA Philippines, hindi tiyak ang kanilang kaligtasan at bisa. Maaari ring lumabag sa Republic Act No. 10918 o Pharmacy Law ang pagbebenta at pamamahagi ng mga hindi rehistradong gamot. Inirerekomenda ng P*P sa publiko na huwag bumili o gumamit ng GLP-1 medications na compounded o galing sa hindi beripikadong online sellers o klinika. Pinapayuhan din ang mga doktor na magreseta lamang ng FDA-approved na gamot at turuan ang mga pasyente tungkol sa panganib ng mga hindi reguladong therapy.

SHARE the commentary: Hindi ko personal na pinapaboran ang kahit anong brand o manufacturer ng GLP-1–based injectables for weight loss. Mas gusto ko kung mayroong mas murang option para mas maraming pasyente ang makaka-access ng paggamot.

Pero sa ngayon—sa dami ng nagkalat na nagbebenta online—wala naman talagang paraan para makapagsabi kung sa mahigit isang daan na produkto, ilan ang tunay na naglalaman ng tamang molecule at alin ang fake o substandard.

Sa ngayon, mahalagang sundin ang mga umiiral na regulasyon at tamang medical supervision para matiyak ang kaligtasan ng pasyente.
