This Mental Health Awareness Month, DSA stands with every student navigating challenges silently.

Your feelings are valid, your voice matters, and seeking help is a sign of strength. Letโ€™s continue creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

Welcome to MSU! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

As much as you owe gratitude to your family, friends, teachers, mentors, and everyone who stood behind you, you owe it to yourself too. For persevering. For holding on to your faith even when the outcome was uncertain.

Your name here is its own kind of answer: youโ€™re capable, youโ€™re ready, and youโ€™ve earned your place.

Congratulations. This is the beginning you fought for.

The program aimed to guide senior high school students in making informed career choices through a series of engaging and meaningful activities. It began with registration and preliminaries, followed by opening remarks and an interactive icebreaker that set a positive and energetic tone for the day. Participants were then introduced to SPFC, CSSH-OGC Peer Support Team, and the invited speakers, establishing a clear context for the discussions ahead.

Following this was the presentation of MSUโ€“Main Campus undergraduate offerings and aligned academic strands, complemented by a discussion on program rationale and relevant enrollment statistics. These sessions provided students with valuable insights into potential academic pathways they may pursue after senior high school.

Focusing on the importance of career choice, the session emphasized how self-awareness and informed decisions shape oneโ€™s future, further enriched by an open forum that encouraged participants to share questions and insights. Complementing this, the program integrated mental health awareness through a short psychoeducation session and the administration of the DASS-21 and RIASEC tests (by approval and authorization of registered guidance counselors) enabling students to reflect on their emotional well-being and personal interests, with necessary and relevant results later presented and interpreted to help them better understand their strengths and preferences in relation to career planning.

One of the key highlights of the program was the afternoon session, where participants actively engaged in career mapping and focused group sessions. This collaborative space allowed them to explore their goals and aspirations more deeply, followed by a meaningful sharing of common interests and a synthesis of insights, ultimately leading to the identification of concrete and actionable steps toward their future career paths.

The event concluded with closing remarks and a photo opportunity, marking the success of a day filled with learning, reflection, and inspiration. Through this initiative, SPFC continues its commitment to empowering students to take gradual yet meaningful steps toward achieving their dreamsโ€”truly embodying the spirit of โ€œdahan-dahan sa pangarap.โ€

N.B. Test results used for discussion were from the students' accomplished RIASEC test. They evaluated their own results and provided their insight from it through a controlled focus group discussion (FGD) circle by peer counselors and facilitators.

Warmest and deepest gratitude to the Project Head Jehan Mamailao and Coordinator Fatima Kayma Said, for the efforts and dedication in making the event possible. Much appreciation as well, to the MSU Division of Student Affairs for their constant support in all of our endeavors.

Most importantly, thank you so much, MSU Balindong Community Highschool, for welcoming the circle with warm enthusiasm and energy!

On April 11, 2026, the MSU-Singayo Student Peer Facilitatorsโ€™ Circle successfully conducted its first-ever workshop on Peer Facilitation and Student Wellness held at MSU- International Convention Center. This workshop echoes key learnings from the PGCA Peer Organization of the Philippines (POP) Conference held on October 4, 2025. Student leaders and members of various student organizations in MSU actively participated in the event, reflecting shared commitment to promoting student wellness.

The event featured plenary dialogues in the morning, emphasized Innovative Programs for Peer-to-Peer support and Peer networking- Creating Safe Spaces in MSU. The first plenary dialogue with SPFC adviser Ma'am Alainah D. Moctar, SPFC President Jehan D. Mamailao and SPFC Vice President Hania L. Domado pointed out several pressing mental health and behavioral concerns relevant to the peer support context while the second plenary dialogue, our guest speakers Prof. Sahara Iman M. Alonto and Prof. Jalaluddin M. Alonto shared their insights on the practical realities of inclusivity including cultural differences, unconscious bias, and the complexity of belonging. Throughout the discussions, the speakers highlighted the importance of kindness, empathy and understanding in fostering meaningful peer connections and how can we as the student leaders be the safe space of the students that we serve as well as our constituents.

A meaningful interactive workshop was also conducted in the afternoon designed to encourage collaboration, enhance participantsโ€™ confidence in engaging with others and strengthen participantsโ€™ ability to provide peer support. These sessions provided hands-on opportunity to apply what was learned in the plenary discussions.

Through this initiative, we are reminded that meaningful change begins within each of us, highlighting the importance of equipping student leaders and organizations with knowledge and skills needed to sustain safe spaces and meaningful peer connections. As we carry these learnings forward, may we be reminded always that peer support is not just a role, but a shared responsibility in building a community where student feels seen, heard, and valued.

At April 11, 2026, rise bright and early by 7:30 AM. We enter and leave the International Convention Center with more than we came with. We will yield new language for what we've always felt, new commitments for what we've always known needed doing, and new people to walk that road with.

A space for every student leader. A conversation long overdue.
