🎉 SUCCESSFUL CELEBRATION | World Immunization Week 2026 💉

The Municipality of Matungao proudly celebrates the successful hosting of the Celebration of World Immunization Week (WIW) 2026, held yesterday at the Azis Training Center, Poblacion, Matungao, Lanao del Norte.

The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Jaber M. Azis, Municipal Mayor, and Hon. Aisha M. Azis, Vice Mayor, together with Dr. Aminodin D. Pamanay, Municipal Health Officer, local officials, and key partners in public health.

Also in attendance were Dr. Jennifer Lee, OIC–Provincial Health Officer; Dr. Jovette S. Guinal, DMO V; and Ms. Alana B. Pala, DMO IV from the Department of Health CHD-NM.

Representing KAMMPPLI HCPN were Dr. Norhabib Paporo, Chief of Hospital – Kauswagan Provincial Hospital, and Dr. Johaimen Macaalang, representing Baloi Provincial Hospital, along with Dr. Amida Macalimbon, Municipal Health Officer of RHU Munai.

The activity was further enriched by the participation of our valued community members-pregnant women, senior citizens, parents, and children—demonstrating a unified commitment to health and protection for all.

The Local Government Unit of Matungao successfully hosted the World Immunization Week 2026 celebration held in Matungao, Lanao del Norte.

The event was led by Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara-Azis, who expressed strong support for the immunization program aimed at protecting every community against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Witnessing the celebration were key health officials, including Dr. Jennifer C. Lee, OIC Provincial Health Officer, together with Ms. Alana B. Pala and Dr. Jovette S. Guinal from the Provincial DOH Office. Also present were health officers from different municipalities across Lanao del Norte.

The activity was made possible through the efforts of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Matungao, headed by Dr. Aminodin D. Pamanay.

This gathering underscores the strong partnership and unified commitment of local and national agencies to strengthen immunization programs, ensuring that every individual is protected against preventable diseases.

The Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) Formulation and Workshop was successfully conducted on April 14–15, 2026 at Azis Training Center, bringing together Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Secretaries, and Barangay Officials who are active members of their respective Barangay Nutrition Committees. The activity aimed to strengthen local capacity in planning, implementing, and managing nutrition programs at the grassroots level.

The first day of the workshop commenced with an inspiring opening message from Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Aminodin Pamanay, emphasizing the vital role of nutrition in community health and development. This was followed by a series of informative sessions delivered by esteemed resource speakers. Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Evan Jhon Miscala, RN, highlighted the importance of prioritizing nutrition services within the barangay. Nutritionist-Dietitian Charie Mae M. Caterial, RND, provided insights on the shared responsibility of ensuring nutrition security, while Nutritionist-Dietitian Jerme Lou E. Bao, RND, discussed key concepts in Nutrition Program Management. In the afternoon session, Nutritionist-Dietitian Trisha Kaye D. Butlay, RND, who also served as the host of the activity, facilitated the step-by-step formulation of the Barangay Nutrition Action Plans.

On the second day, participants actively engaged in the continuation of the workshop, culminating in the presentation of their respective BNAPs. Constructive feedback and recommendations were provided to further enhance the quality and responsiveness of the plans. The activity concluded with closing remarks, followed by the awarding of certificates to the resource speakers and participants in recognition of their valuable contributions and active participation.
This successful two-day activity underscores the continued commitment of the municipality and its barangays to advancing nutrition programs and ensuring a healthier, more resilient community for all.
