The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Matungao, through its Municipal Nutrition Office, conducted a comprehensive Data Quality Check (DQC) training for the Field Health Service Information System (FHSIS) and Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus at the Azis Training Center from June 23 to 25, 2025 .
This training aimed to empower health workers with the technical competencies needed for rigorous data validation and quality assurance. FHSIS serves as the backbone for health service monitoring at all administrative levelsโbarangay to nationalโplaying a vital role in accurate planning, budgeting, and policy implementation. Meanwhile, OPT Plus is the annual height and weight measurement program for preschool children (0โ59 months) used to identify malnutrition in the community. Complete, reliable, accurate and useful OPT Plus data is essential for effective planning, budgeting, and monitoring of health and nutrition programs.โฃ
The first part of the training focused on Operation Timbang Plus, led by Ms. Francess Anthonette D. Paglinawan (PMNPโRPMO Project Associate II), alongside NDDPs from PDOHO Lanao del Norte: Ms. Trisha Kaye Butlay, Ms. Clariz B. Kalyawen, Ms. Jerme Lou E. Bao, and Ms. Charie Caterial. During this session, participants engaged in a standardization exerciseโa hands on data collection drill using actual anthropometric protocols and calibrated equipment. This was aligned with PMNP's DQC framework to ensure field workers collect accurate, consistent measurements across barangaysโฃ.
The second portion of the training focused on the Field Health Service Information System (FHSIS) and was led by Public Health Nurse Mr. Evan Jhon B. Miscala alongside Mr. Arven Kim Arceno, Information Management Consultant from UNICEF. During this session, participants were introduced to the 25 PMNP indicators tracked through FHSIS. These include Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition indicators that shall be subjected to DQC. The highlight of the session was the hands-on Data Quality Check (DQC) exercise, where participants applied the FHSIS DQC tool. They practiced validating indicator definitions, calculations, data recording, and reporting.โฃ
