Health Sec. Duque recently announced that dentists can resume operations but with strict health compliance. With that in mind, we are sorry to announce that OUR CLINIC IS NOT YET COVID- READY. Numbers of covid + are rising, most are asymptomatic and there is no mass testing yet and we have to treat everyone as SUSPECTS even after triaging procedures. The PDA came up with protocols and proper clinic set-up to ensure the safety of everyone. Please allow us time to modify our clinic and to purchase necessary equipments like filters, proper ppe's, etc; which are hard to come by because of limited supply, lacking manpower and restricted movement brought about by the ECQ. Most of our procedures are aerosol generating thus careful modifications and adjustments are necessary to prevent cross-contamination
(we have families to think about and to care for). Please bear with us at these trying times. You can PM me if you need to consult.
Thank you.

Dear Patients,
Lately our dental profession is being bashed by some, demanding where are we now as health frontliners should be.
Let me explain to those who are concerned. Obviously our working field is your mouth. Our mouth and nose are interconnected at the throat area hence when you sometimes swallow liquid, it accidentally goes out through your nose. Thus within our working field are saliva, nasal discharges, phlegm, oral microbes and blood.
To add, our hand equipment are run by compressed air hence aerosol transmission is difficult to contain. Your dentist and his/her dental assistant need PPEs which are hard to find right now as they are reserved for medical frontliners.
Our mother organization, The Philippine Dental Association ADVICED its members not to open clinics, because it is aware that 99.99% of these are ill equipped to join this battle.
As much as we worry about our patients' well being, we will be endangering ours, our families' life and yours as well, if we give in to your demand. We apologize to our patients with pending cases such as dentures to install, braces to adjust, half finished root canal therapy, dental cavities to restore and mouths to clean.
Dental emergencies such as pain and infection are referred to hospital based dental clinics. We also do waking hours teleconsultation.
We are indeed your health providers but with apologies, we take the role of REAR GUARDS in this war

I am a DENTIST.
I am a DOCTOR, too.
I LOVE MY JOB because it makes people SMILE.
I love making people HAPPY.
I love giving people the CONFIDENCE to TALK and feel amazing when they SMILE. And Live a Life that they can EAT, CHEW and DRINK whatever they want, may it be cold, hot or different tastes of food.
I just LOVE WHAT I DO.
I LOVE MY JOB.

But what I didn't know is that,
I am EXPOSED.

I AM EXPOSED TO AEROSOLS WITH DIFFERENT BACTERIA AND VIRUSES EVERYTIME I WORK.
EVERY YEAR, DENTISTS ALWAYS MAKE IT ON THE LIST FOR BEING ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS JOBS TO THE HEALTH.
NOT ONLY THAT, ANXIETY DISORDER AND BURN OUT ARE VERY COMMON TO DENTISTS WHO WORK TIRELESSLY IN THE DENTAL CLINIC.
YES, WE ARE HIGH EARNERS BUT THE HEALTH RISK IS ALWAYS THERE.

AND then AGAIN, I LOVE MY JOB.

At this time during the COVID 19 OUTBREAK,

IF WEARING MASKS, GLOVES AND FACE SHIELDS ARE NEW TO YOU, THAT IS WHAT WE ARE WEARING EVERYTIME WE WORK.
AND NOW IT IS RUNNING OUT, BECAUSE A MUCH MORE ESSENTIAL MEDICAL FRONTLINERS NEED IT MOST.

WE WON'T ADD TO THE CONSUMERS RATHER, WE, DENTISTS, NEED TO STEP ASIDE. WE NEED TO STAY AT HOME. WE WANT TO FLATTEN THE CURVE.

WE CLOSED THE DENTAL CLINICS, STOPPED THE REGULAR DENTAL PROCEDURES AND OPEN ONLY FOR DENTAL EMERGENCIES BECAUSE IMAGINE HOW IS IT LIKE TO BE IN FRONTLINE AND SEING ONE BY ONE YOUR DENTAL COLLEAGUE TURNS OUT TO BE A FALLEN BECAUSE AGAIN THE DENTAL EXPOSURE IS NOT 6FT AWAY.

PLEASE BEAR WITH US, DENTISTS, AT THIS TIME.
WE LOVE OUR JOB. WE REALLY WANT TO GO BACK TO WORK AND MISS OUR PATIENTS SO BAD.

I LOVE MY JOB.
I AM DENTIST.
