Did you know that snoring could be a sign of a life-threatening condition?
Four years ago, I was lying in the ICU, wondering what was happening to me. Turns out, my oxygen levels were dropping dangerously low, down to 76%! And if you don't know, normal oxygen should go down to 95%. That's when the doctors discovered I had severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
OSA is measured by something called the AHI. Mine was a whopping 117! Anything over 30 is severe, so you can imagine how bad it was. I was constantly tired, forgetting things, and sometimes I couldn't even finish a sentence. To be honest, it was one of the scariest times of my life.
But getting diagnosed with OSA changed everything. Starting CPAP treatment has been like night and day. I'm finally getting restful sleep and have the energy to enjoy life again.
Unfortunately, my dad didn't have the same chance. He suffered from undiagnosed sleep apnea for years. His snoring was legendary, we joked that he snored so loud he woke himself up! Little did we know, his body was fighting for survival every time he closed his eyes. He passed away a few days after Christmas at the age of 76, never getting to enjoy his retirement, always too exhausted to travel.
I've spent countless hours researching the best CPAP options and I'm sharing my story because I don't want anyone else to go through what my dad did. I believe everyone deserves access to quality sleep and affordable CPAP treatment.
