The PROJECT SCORE A STAR PROGRAM looks to strengthen the implementation of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools program to attain the standards of proper and correct health practices by focusing on achieving the following:

1. Provide safe drinking water. Schools must have a reliable, safe water supply for drinking, handwashing, and sanitation needs. Regular testing of water quality is also important to ensure it is free from contaminants.

2. Ensure adequate sanitation. This includes providing clean, functional, and accessible toilets for all students, with separate facilities for boys and girls to ensure safety and privacy.

3. Establish proper hygiene facilities. Handwashing stations with soap and water should be available near toilets and food areas. This also extends to providing facilities and resources for proper menstrual hygiene management for girls.

4. Prioritize environmental hygiene. Schools should implement proper waste disposal systems, manage drainage to prevent stagnant water, and maintain overall cleanliness.

5. Integrate health education. Hygiene and sanitation should be included in the school curriculum to ensure students have the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health.

6. Promote sustainability. To ensure long-term success, WASH programs in schools must have clear plans for sustained operation and maintenance of facilities. This includes securing funding and engaging the school community and local stakeholders.
