Vicente Gustilo District Hospital Devolved hospital from national to LGU - Province of Negros Occidental. It occurred on July 26, 2008. The hospital has two operating rooms with recovery rooms.

Hospital operations had started sometime in 1974 but was transferred three times at three different locations. It was first located one (1) kilometer away from the heart of the city along the road going to the Old Poblacion. On January 1, 1981, all the services of the hospital were transferred to Magdalen Hospital, a 100-bed capacity private hospital owned and operated by the Sisters of Julie Postel, a religious order based in the Netherlands. All the assets of Magdalen Hospital which included the land, buildings and equipment were donated to the Ministry of Health and it was renamed VGDH. After more than twenty seven (27) years however, hospital operations were again transferred to a newly built hospital buildings on a new site. This new facility could accommodate one hundred (100) patients at any given time and with ready rooms for future services like dialysis section and intensive care unit. VGDH is a recipient of various donated equipment from Australia.
