Army Troops Capture NPA-Laid Anti-Personnel Mine (APM) and War Paraphernalia
CAMP SUMOROY, CATARMAN, Northern Samar – Army Troops of 20th (We Lead) Battalion captured Anti-Personnel Mine (APM) and war paraphernalia during the pursuit operations conducted in Brgy. Quirino, Las navas Northern Samar on 18 December 2022.
Immediately after evacuation of wounded personnel in the incident yesterday at 05:30 A.M 18 December 2022, 20IB immediately conducted pursuit operation to run after the fleeing CTGs who are responsible in the attack to the troops conducting Mobile Community Support Program using APM in Brgy. Quirino.
With this pursuit operations, the troops captured the following: one (1) Anti-Personnel Mine, 20 meters electrical wire, one (1) backpack with assorted personal belongings, one (1) pair combat boots and one (1) poncho.
Col Perfecto P Peñaredondo (Inf) MNSA PA, 803rd Brigade Commander, encouraged the populace not to hesitate to report to the authority if there is presence of this lawless elements in their respective communities. Further, he is calling to the office of the legal cluster and Commission of Human of Rights to file appropriate criminal charges against the identified CPP-NPA Terrorists in order give justice to the troops.

CPP-NPA Terrorists Detonate Anti-Personnel Mines (APM) vs. Six (6) Army Troops
CAMP SUMOROY, CATARMAN, Northern Samar –CPP-NPA Local communist terrorists ambushed elements of the 20th (We Lead) Battalion conducting Mobile Community Support and Sustainment Program (MCSSP) using Anti-Personnel Mine (APM) in Brgy Quirino, Las Navas, Northern Samar this morning at 05:30 a.m 18 December 2022.
The atrocity was perpetrated by the terrorist group belonging to the Front Committee 15 of Sub-Regional Committee “Arctic” of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee led by alias Tara, that resulted to six (6) Army troopers, from suffering from superfluous wounds and injuries.
Barangay Quirino is among the seven (7) recipient barangays in Las Navas, Northern Samar funded under Local Government Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) 2022 as part of the National Task Force-ELCAC Program. Brgy. Quirino was set to receive a Water System Project after the groundbreaking ceremony at Brgy. Magsaysay on December 16, 2022.
It can be recalled that the same terrorist group conducted a series of attacks using Anti-Personnel Mines against government troops, on April 03, 2022, the C**s used APMs against CSP Teams of the 20IB while the troops were moving back to Barangay Osang, Catubig, Northern Samar at vicinity Brgy. San Miguel, Las Navas, Northern Samar, which resulted to the death of two (2) PNP Personnel and injuries to four (4) others. Another APM incident happened at Brgy. Magsaysay, Mapanas, Northern on July 05, 2022 which injured seven (7) Army Personnel and on July 19, 2022, one (1) soldier died and five other troopers were wounded after communist terrorist attack using APMS in Brgy Osang, Catubig, Northern Samar.
Col Perfecto P Peñaredondo (Inf) MNSA PA, 803rd Brigade Commander, vehemently condemned the CPP-NPA terrorists for their flagrant violation on the use of banned APM. He urged the community and the LGUs to condemn this dastardly act of the NPA terrorists that continuously violate Human Rights, the Ottawa Convention, the International Humanitarian Law and RA9851.
He added that the leadership of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), as the self-proclaimed organizational representative of the NPA, should be held liable for not making genuine efforts to stop the NPA, its armed wing, from the continuing production, stockpile, transport, and use of crudely manufactured APM that also pose danger to the people in the communities.
Meanwhile, the 803rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade transported the casualties utilizing one (1) unit of Sikorski S70i (Blackhwak) to Eastern Visayas Medical Center for further medical treatment. The Commander of JTF-STORM and 8ID Commander, MGEN CAMILO Z LIGAYO PA is set to award the wounded personnel medal to the six (6) Stormtroopers as soon as their medical conditions stabilize.

Eight (8) members of CPP-NPA surrendered at Northern Samar

CAMP SUMOROY, CATARMAN, Northern Samar – 43rd Infantry (We Search) Battalion at Brgy Magsaysay, Lope de Vega, Northern Samar facilitated the surrender of Eight (8) members of CPP-NPA members at around 01:30 in the afternoon yesterday, December 08, 2022. Six (6) of them are Communist-NPA-Terrorist (CNT) members of merged FC-2 and Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU), SRC Emporium, EVRPC while two (2) are members of the White Area Committee-Northern Samar (WAC-NS).

The surrenderors brought along with them six (6) fi****ms (one (1) Cal 5.56 M16 A1 Rifle, one (1) Cal 5.56 M653 Rifle, one (1) Cal. 45 pistol, three (3) Cal.38 pistols) and two (2) rifle grenades.
According to the surrendered C**s, they decided to surrender because of the inability of the CTG organization to sustain the needs of their families due to the diminished support from the people they considered mass base as a result of the CSP operations. They also realized that their leaders only fed them with false promises while confronting unending misery in fighting government troops.

Ltc Manuel B Degay Jr Inf (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 43IB, welcomed the surrender of these eight (8) C**s, and thanked them for choosing the path of peace. He also encouraged other members of the CPP-NPA Terrorists to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law to attain the inclusive and sustainable peace in Northern Samar.

Meanwhile Col Perfecto P Peñaredondo MNSA PA, 803rd Brigade Commander, expressed his gratitude to the efforts of the troops for the successful negotiations that led to the surrender of the eight (8) surrenderors. He also encouraged the people of Northern Samar specially the families of those CTG members who are still hiding in the mountains to help in establishing contact with them and encouraged them to go back to the folds of the law. The Provincial and Municipal Task Forces – to - End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) here in Northen Samar, in addition with the E-CLIP of the National Government have lots of support to those who will surrender,” he said.

The Brigade, in coordination with the Northern Samar PTF-Balik-Loob will facilitate the requirements for the processing of these eight (8) surrenderors for them to avail the Immediate Assistance, the Local Integration Program (LSIP) and Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

SAMAR-BASED COMMUNIST TERRORISTS CAUGHT BY TROOPS’ MANEUVER
Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, Northern Samar – After six weeks of pursuit operations since the Communist Terrorists Group (CTG) attack on 07 October 2022 upon the joint AFP- PNP troops who were conducting Community Support Program (CSP) immersion in Brgy. Dorrillo, Jipapad, Eastern Samar; government forces have finally caught with the perpetrators today, 23 November 2022 at Brgy Imelda, Las Navas, Northern Samar – in an uninhabited forestland within the tri-boundary of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar Provinces. Brgy. Imelda is more or less 15 kilometers away from Brgy. Dorrillo.
The combined operations using the Infantry Battalions and Companies under the operational control of 803rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade as maneuver forces supported by field artillery fires and air support have been effectively implemented, wherein the foot soldiers were able to close with the encampment of the CTG’s regional leadership and engaged them with fierce firefights. Combat clearing operations are still ongoing to recover the remnants of enemy formations in the ground. Initially, government troops recovered at least six (6) human bodies and eighteen (18) assorted fi****ms.
As can be recalled, the CTGs attacked the joint Mobile Community Support Sustainment Team (MCSST) in Brgy Dorillo who were only conducting CSP activities to address basic needs issues which resulted to the death of two soldiers, two severely wounded, and the worst of all, the wounding of an innocent child due to their unreasonable attack.
This latest armed engagement in Brgy. Imelda may result to the dismantling of the regional leadership of the CPP-NPA’s Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee, as it will also be a step towards attaining justice on behalf of the victims of their attack in the peace-loving community in Dorrillo and a big blow to the CTGs in Samar – Leyte Islands. In the over-all peace and development campaign of Joint Task Force Storm under the Visayas Command of the AFP, the convergence of inter-agency and multi-sectoral efforts have been relentlessly pursued under the auspices of National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), as continued by President Marcos, Jr.

803rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade Commander, Colonel Perfecto Peñaredondo (Infantry) MNSA PA expressed confidence in the ability of his deployed forces and assets to validate the earlier reports on CTG encampment and terroristic activities in the conflict affected areas in Las Navas. He added that the Peacemaker Brigade encourages those CPP-NPA members in heart of Samar Island who are still actively involved in the underground movement to return to the folds of the law, go back to your families and live peaceful and productive lives. He added that the whole-of-government including the AFP are very willing to help them start with a new and peaceful life with their loved ones.
