The College of Fisheries successfully conducted its Guidance Caravan yesterday, March 16, 2026, as part of the month-long celebration of Guidance Awareness Month this March. Anchored on the importance of holistic student development, the activity encouraged students to reflect and learn more about the various support systems available to help them grow, not only academically, but also personally and professionally.
In her message, Dean Rea Mae C. Templonuevo emphasized how fortunate todayโs generation is, as mental health awareness continues to grow stronger compared to previous years when individuals had to cope with stress on their own. She highlighted that students now benefit from increased support systems within the university, making it easier to seek help and guidance when needed.
โEven if you are focused on achieving your goals, never forget to take care of your mental health-it is just as important,โ she shared. She expressed hope that the session would guide students in discovering their strengths, clarifying their aspirations, and preparing for future opportunities. More importantly, she stressed that success is not solely defined by knowledge and technical skills, but also by self-awareness, informed decision-making, and maintaining overall well-being
Meanwhile, Dr. Angeli T. Austria reiterated that the Guidance Caravan serves as a reminder that no student has to struggle alone. In line with the celebration of Guidance Awareness Month, the Office of Student Affairs continues to promote its services, including counseling and student development activities, to support students in their academic and personal journeys.
Adding energy to the event, the BS Psychology 3-1 students, together with Associate Professor Ma. Magdalena C. Galang, facilitated an engaging group dynamics session. The interactive activities not only fostered connection among participants but also created a safe and enjoyable space for self-expression and collaboration.
Through initiatives like the Guidance Caravan, the university reaffirms its commitment to nurturing resilient, self-aware, and empowered students-ready to face both academic challenges and real-world responsibilities.
