"A Name Found, A Heart Healed"
Maria had always been curious about her ancestors. As a convert to the Church, she often felt a spiritual nudge to learn more about her roots but didn’t know where to start. One Sunday, her ward held a Family History class, and she decided to attend.
With the help of a family history consultant, she began to explore records from her home country, the Philippines. After weeks of searching, she discovered a great-grandmother named Rosa who had passed away in the 1940s. As she read the faded documents, Maria felt an overwhelming sense of connection. She knew Rosa was waiting.
With tears in her eyes, Maria prepared Rosa’s name for the temple. Months later, she traveled to the Manila Philippines Temple with her husband to perform the ordinances on Rosa’s behalf. As the work was completed, Maria felt an undeniable warmth and peace — a witness that Rosa had accepted the ordinances.
But the blessings didn’t stop there.
Maria's testimony deepened, her marriage grew stronger, and her teenage children, inspired by her story, began their own family history research. One night, her daughter said, “Mom, I feel like we’re not alone anymore. Our family is bigger than we thought.”
Through the sacred work of the temple, Maria not only helped redeem the dead — she healed the living. Rosa’s legacy now lives on, not just in records, but in the hearts of her posterity.
