The short answer is no, acne is not contagious. You cannot catch acne from someone else by touching their face, sharing a towel, or kissing.
While it is a very common misconception especially because bacteria are involved, the mechanics of how acne forms are entirely internal.

Why It Can’t Spread From Person to Person

To understand why it isn’t contagious, it helps to look at what actually causes a breakout. Acne happens when three specific factors collide deep inside an individual pore:
Overactive Oil Glands: Your skin produces too much sebum (the skin’s natural oil), often driven by hormonal fluctuations.
