🌧️ Typhoon Pepito Advisory 🌧️

Attention, kababayan! As of today, Typhoon Pepito has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is projected to intensify further, potentially reaching the category of a Super Typhoon before its landfall. Let’s stay informed and prepared as it brings significant weather impacts to the country.

Weather Update

β€’ Current Status: Pepito is currently classified as a typhoon with sustained winds of 130 km/h and gusts of up to 160 km/h. It is moving west-northwest and may strengthen into a super typhoon before making landfall.

β€’ Affected Areas:
o Luzon: Bicol Region, Quezon Province, parts of Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.
o Visayas: Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and surrounding provinces.
o Expect intense rains, strong winds, and possible storm surges in coastal areas.

Expected Impacts

β€’ Wind Damage:
o Severe damage to high-risk structures, including older homes and buildings.
o Uprooted trees and fallen power lines are highly probable.

β€’ Flooding and Landslides:
o Torrential rains may cause flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous regions.

β€’ Sea Hazards:
o Dangerous sea conditions with waves reaching several meters. Coastal and seafaring activities should be avoided.

Precautions to Take Now

1. Secure roofing and outdoor items to prevent wind damage.
2. Prepare emergency essentials like flashlights, batteries, power banks, food, and clean water.
3. Stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.
4. For those in high-risk areas (coastlines, rivers, or slopes), plan for early evacuation if necessary.
5. Continuously monitor official weather updates from PAGASA every six hours or as changes occur.

For our fellow OFWs, this is the time to ensure your families are safe and well-prepared. Stay connected and encourage them to follow local government advisories.

Dear WE AIM OFW INC Community,

Recently, some GCash users reported unexpected deductions from their accounts. While GCash is working on addressing the issue, here are some quick steps to protect your account and keep your funds safe:

1.) Check Your Balance Regularly: Log in to your GCash account and review your recent transactions. Take screenshots for reference in case you need to report any unauthorized transactions.

2.) Avoid Clicking Unfamiliar Links: Be cautious with messages or emails claiming to be from GCash, especially those asking for personal details. Official notifications from GCash will not ask for your PIN or OTP.

3.) Change Your PIN: Regularly updating your PIN can provide added security, especially if you suspect any suspicious activity.

4.) Reach Out to Support: If you notice any unusual transactions, report it immediately through the GCash app by selecting Help Center > Chat with Gigi or emailing support@gcash.com. Keep records of your communications.

5.) Stay Updated: Follow GCash's official page for updates, and avoid spreading unverified information.

Remember, protecting your hard-earned money is a priority. Let's stay vigilant together!

🌧️🚨 Important Update: Typhoon Carina & Hanging Habagat Flood Advisory 🚨🌧️

Dear WE AIM OFW INC Community,

Typhoon Carina, combined with the Hanging Habagat, has caused significant flooding in various areas. We are deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of everyone affected. Please take note of the following safety measures to protect yourself and your loved ones during this challenging time:

🚨 Before the Flood:
1.) Stay Informed: Keep updated with the latest weather reports and advisories from official sources like PAGASA and local government units.
2.) Emergency Kit: Prepare an emergency kit with essentials such as water, non-perishable food, medicines, flashlight, batteries, and important documents.
3.) Evacuation Plan: Know the nearest evacuation centers and routes. Plan how to reach them quickly if necessary.
4.) Home Preparation: Secure your home by sealing cracks, ensuring proper drainage, and moving valuables to higher ground.
5.) Turn Off Utilities: Familiarize yourself with the locations of your main switches for gas, electricity, and water.

🌊 During the Flood:
1.) Stay Indoors: If safe, stay inside your home and move to higher floors if necessary. Avoid floodwaters at all costs.
2.) Follow Instructions: Adhere to the advice and instructions given by local authorities and emergency services.
3.) Emergency Kit: Keep your emergency kit within reach and ensure all family members know its location.
4.) Stay Connected: Ensure your mobile phones are fully charged and have backup power sources to stay in touch with family and emergency services.
5.) Avoid Floodwaters: Do not walk or drive through floodwaters as they may be deeper and more dangerous than they appear.

⚠️ After the Flood:
1.) Wait for Clearance: Only return to your home once authorities have declared it safe to do so.
2.) Inspect Your Home: Check for structural damage before entering. Ensure that there are no electrical hazards.
3.) Sanitation: Avoid contact with floodwaters as they may be contaminated. Clean and disinfect everything that got wet.
4.) Health Precautions: Seek medical attention if you have any health concerns or injuries. Be aware of potential waterborne diseases.
5.) Document Damage: Take photos of any damage for insurance claims and assistance applications.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the flooding.

Stay safe and take care. πŸ™πŸŒ§οΈ

πŸ”₯β˜€οΈ Staying Safe in Extreme Heat Index: Tips from We Aim OFW Inc. β˜€οΈπŸ”₯

Dear community,

As we enter the hotter months, it's crucial to stay safe and healthy amidst the scorching heat. Here are some tips from We Aim OFW Inc. to help you beat the heat:

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and avoid dehydration.

2. Dress appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing to help your body stay cool.

3. Seek shade: When outdoors, try to stay in the shade as much as possible, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

4. Take breaks: If you're working or engaging in outdoor activities, take regular breaks in a cool, shaded area to give your body a chance to rest and cool down.

5. Use sunscreen: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by applying sunscreen with a high SPF before heading outside.

6. Limit outdoor activities: Try to schedule outdoor activities during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning (5:00 AM to 8:00 AM) or late evening (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM), to avoid the peak heat.

7. Check on loved ones: Keep an eye on elderly family members, children, and pets, as they are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.

8. Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke: Symptoms include heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and headache. If you or someone you know experiences these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

Remember, your health and safety are our top priorities. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe this summer!
