Swiss company Novartis and its division Sandoz strongly support the Philippines’ efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Novartis has donated 19.3 million pesos to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Medical Foundation to be used for locally-produced testing kits, increasing the hospital’s testing capacity. Sandoz on the other hand has assisted the East Avenue Medical Center and other hospitals through the Philippine Red Cross by providing a year’s supply of medicine. Both companies have also supplied personal protective equipment (PPE) to various healthcare centers.

At the handover of the donation, Ambassador Alain Gaschen highlighted how Swiss pharmaceutical and biotech companies contribute importantly not only to cater for the current needs and demand of drugs, but also to share their knowledge and foster partnerships with different government entities.
