Look: After several activities conducted in the Coast Guard District Palawan, the Coast Guard Nursing Service unit, together with the Coast Guard Medical Clinic personnel, successfully conducted a Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Orientation, Counseling, and Testing together with the Management of Mental Health Awareness, Basic Life Support Refresher Course, and Standard First Aid Training. The officers and gallant men and women of BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV 9701) and DA-BFAR MCS-3010 participated from September 15โ23, 2023, aboard BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRV 9701), Domestic Anchorage Area, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The Human Immunodeficiency Awareness Seminar aims to enable PCG personnel on board vessels to develop insights into issues of HIV/AIDS management in the workplace that can assist in the creation of a safe environment free from discrimination and stigma.
Said activity was graced by distinguished resource speakers from the Provincial Health Office (PHO), spearheaded by Ms. Norry Fe-Ann Payopelin, RMT. Thereafter, our resource speakers, together with CG CDR MELISA M ACOSTA NC, Chief Nurse, CGNSSU-PAL, conducted testing and counseling for each of the participants afterward.
In addition, the Mental Health Awareness Training's main goal is to prioritize the mental well-being of subject PCG personnel, alleviate misconceptions about mental health, develop self-awareness, and maintain a positive mental attitude.
Furthermore, the objective of the Basic Life Support with Standard First Aid Refresher's Course is to equip the participants with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude to perform the Basic Life Support techniques with confidence.
A wide range of activities had a positive impact on the participants, satisfying their insatiable appetite to keep learning and keeping them enthusiastically engaged throughout the training.
This series of activities aims to benefit more PCG personnel assigned onboard vessels within the AOR of Palawan.
