This is alarming, and proper awareness on safe s*x should be given to adolescents, young adults, and couples. We are seeing newborns also infected with HIV here in Palawan, and this is supposedly preventable if only the pregnant mom knows her HIV status prior to delivery, and a prophylaxis medications is given to the baby within 6hours of birth. HIV screening is offered for free at city health, government health centers.

I have seen a lot of babies and school age children getting this illness this month of January, here are some facts regarding Hand, Foot & Mouth disease. It can be confused with Chickenpox or Bulutong-tubig and differ in level of infectiousness. So if moms and guardians are not too sure if you should let your children go back to school with this
kind of skin lesions or simply not sure how to handle this; just visit your friendly pedia doctor for guidance. Posting here an actual picture of my patient with HFMD (permission from mom was granted to post this)
