Two years ago, in a research meeting with my mentor, he suggested applying for the graduation response. Naturally, I replied “I have two years left, I’ll think about it when it gets closer”. Towards the end of my stay in DLSU, I had a long-held sense of gratitude I wished to share. However, I this would disclose a secret I kept with a small group of people since my admission.

As time marched closer to the Commencement Exercises, my mentor and I realized that it was the right moment to discuss this. You made me see a world that would accept and include me despite my differences. No amount of words can accurately present my gratitude for that.

Thank you DLSU for making me believe in a future where neurodiverse people like me can be accepted and included. You gave me a true sense of hope, an achievable vision where Neurodiversity is celebrated as a normal part of the community.

Every Neurodiverse individual deserves a fair chance to thrive in the world. This will only realize when they are accepted with the proper support and accommodations. To all Neurodiverse individuals who were told they are incapable, a nuisance, or a person who cannot get anywhere in life: You all matter, you have potential and no one should deny you that because of a Neurodiverse difference. One day, I hope that vision of an accepting world for us actualizes to its fullest

It is a genuine honor to deliver the Morning Session Graduate Response for DLSU’s 202nd Commencement Exercises. I hope each word shines even a little light on the Neurodiverse community in the Philippines. After all, every one of them deserved their moment.
