๐Ÿฆ  MPOX ALERT:
Know the Facts. Protect Yourself.

๐Ÿ“As of May 29, the Philippines has reported 25 confirmed and 13 suspected cases of Monkeypox (Mpox) in multiple regions including Central Visayas, Davao, and BARMM.

๐Ÿ’ก What is Mpox?
Mpox is a viral infection caused by the monkeypox virus, a cousin of smallpox. It spreads through close, prolonged contact and is now seen in clusters around the country.

๐Ÿงฌ Transmission:
โ€ข Skin-to-skin contact, especially during intimate or prolonged contact
โ€ข Respiratory droplets during close face-to-face interaction
โ€ข Contact with contaminated objects (e.g., clothing, linens, surfaces)

๐Ÿงโ€โ™‚๏ธ Symptoms:
โ€ข Fever, chills
โ€ข Headache and swollen lymph nodes
โ€ข Body aches and fatigue
โ€ข Progressive rash: macules โ†’ papules โ†’ vesicles (blisters) โ†’ pustules โ†’ scabs
โ€ข Rash often appears on the face, hands, ge****ls, or trunk

๐Ÿงช Diagnosis:
โ€ข Confirmed through PCR testing of skin lesions
โ€ข Clinical history and physical exam support early suspicion

๐Ÿ’Š Treatment:
โ€ข Most cases are mild and self-limiting
โ€ข Severe cases may need supportive care or investigational antivirals like tecovirimat (not widely available)

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Prevention (No vaccine available locally):
โ€ข Avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms
โ€ข Maintain good hand hygiene and disinfect surfaces
โ€ข Healthcare workers: use full PPE when assessing rashes or suspect cases

๐Ÿ“ข Stay alert. Stay clean. Seek care early. Letโ€™s stop the spread of Mpox together.
