Valencia City, Bukidnon – The City Health Office (CHO) Maternal and Child Care Division headed by Dr. Carren Emirose H. Solidor, RN conducted a Supportive Supervision Monitoring activity in Barangay Sinayawan today, February 7, 2025 reinforcing the city's commitment to improving maternal and child health services at the grassroots level.

The activity focused on assessing the implementation of maternal and child healthcare programs, ensuring that local health workers are equipped with the necessary resources, knowledge, and skills to provide quality care. Key areas of evaluation included prenatal and postnatal care, immunization coverage, nutrition programs, and the availability of essential maternal and child health supplies.

Through direct engagement with barangay health workers (BHWs) and midwives, the CHO team provided technical guidance, identified challenges, and offered solutions to enhance service delivery. CHO Conducts Prenatal Assessment and Consultation

The City Health Office continues its commitment to maternal and child health by conducting a Prenatal Assessment and Consultation to 54 expectant mothers today, February 6, 2025.This initiative aims to ensure safe pregnancies, promote healthy childbirth, and prevent complications through early medical intervention.

During the event, healthcare professionals provided comprehensive prenatal checkups and laboratory screenings. Pregnant mothers also received essential health education on proper prenatal care, UTI and Anemia in Pregnancy, Importance of Exclusive Breastfeeding and Routine Immunization and STI/HIV Prevention which was explained and elaborated by Ms. Venadyl F. Cantero, RN, EMT, Health Education and Promotion Officer III.

This initiative is part of CHO’s ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and promote safe motherhood practices in the community. The City Health Office encourages all pregnant women to avail themselves of regular prenatal care at their nearest health center to ensure a smooth and healthy pregnancy.

PHO, CHO Conduct Bloodletting Activity at Barangay Tongantongan

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Bukidnon and City Health Office (CHO) of Valencia headed by Dr. Alyanna Mae P. Lizardo successfully conducted a Bloodletting Activity on February 5, 2025 at Barangay Tongantongan where 26 generous blood donors participated in this humanitarian effort.

The initiative aimed to ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need, including those undergoing surgeries, trauma cases, and individuals with chronic illnesses. With the support of medical professionals and volunteers, the event was carried out smoothly, following strict health and safety protocols to safeguard both donors and recipients.

CHO expressed their gratitude to the VCWD employees, community members, and all volunteers who took part in the event. The success of this bloodletting activity reflects the compassion and generosity of our community. Every donation counts, and we encourage more people to become regular blood donors.

The CHO and PHO remain committed to promoting voluntary blood donation and will continue to organize similar activities to strengthen the province’s blood supply. They urge the public to support future bloodletting drives, emphasizing that one donation can save multiple lives.

CSWD, CHO, and CCRO Conduct Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), in collaboration with the City Health Office (CHO) and the City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO), successfully conducted a Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC) session for soon-to-wed couples on February 5, 2025, at Bahay Pag-asa, CSWD Office, Valencia City.

The PMOC aimed to educate and prepare couples for a healthy and legally sound marriage by providing essential guidance on family planning, health and wellness, marriage laws, and responsible parenthood. Participants received expert advice from healthcare professionals, legal advisors, and social workers, ensuring they are well-informed before entering married life.

Venadyl F. Cantero, RN, EMT, Health Education and Promotion Officer III highlighted the importance of reproductive health and family planning in building a strong and stable family. Marriage is not just about commitment but also about making informed decisions that affect your health and future family. This program helps couples start their journey with the right knowledge and support.

Meanwhile, representatives from the CCRO discussed the legal aspects of marriage, emphasizing the importance of proper documentation and civil registration. The CSWD provided guidance on family welfare, conflict resolution, and the responsibilities of married life, ensuring that couples are emotionally and socially prepared for their union.

The LGU Valencia, through its partner agencies, remains committed to promoting strong, healthy, and well-prepared families. Soon-to-wed couples are encouraged to participate in future PMOC sessions, which are a mandatory requirement for marriage license applications.

Sistoso, RN successfully conducted a PhilPEN Assessment and E-Konsulta Profiling and Consultation on February 4, 2025 at Barangay Batangan, catering to 194 patients in need of essential healthcare services.

Led by CHO personnel, the activity aimed to assess and monitor individuals for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes under the Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable Disease Interventions (PhilPEN). Simultaneously, the E-Konsulta program provided remote medical consultations, ensuring that residents received timely healthcare advice and interventions.

This initiative is part of the CHO’s ongoing efforts to bring accessible and preventive healthcare services closer to communities, particularly in far-flung barangays. The medical team conducted screenings, risk assessments, and consultations while also educating residents on proper health management and disease prevention.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) and City Health Office (CHO) of the Non-Communicable Disease Division headed by Dr. Crysthia Lorcyl A. Sistoso, RN successfully conducted a Primary Eye Screening in Barangay Lourdes on January 31, 2025, providing 105 patients with free vision assessments using the Snellen and Jaeger charts.

The initiative aimed to identify early signs of vision impairment among residents, particularly those at risk of refractive errors, presbyopia, and other eye conditions. Patients underwent visual acuity tests to determine their far and near vision capabilities, ensuring early detection and proper referral for further evaluation and treatment.
