LIVE | RARE DISEASE: RAISING AWARENESS AND CONSCIOUSNESS Part 2!

The Republic Act 10747, An Act Promulgating a Comprehensive Policy in Addressing the Needs of Persons with Rare Disease, was enacted to protect patients with rare disease conditions. Under this law, those with such conditions are considered persons with disabilities. This week, we discuss the Hunter syndrome condition with a geneticist who has done intensive research on rare genetic diseases. We also learn how a mother deals with daily life having children with Hunter syndrome. These and more, here on inklunasyon!

In line with Proclamation No. 157 (2002), the month of February is observed as National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month. Carrying this year’s theme, “321 and Beyond: Raising Aspiration, Inclusion, Support, and Empowerment for People with Down Syndrome,” join us as we learn about the campaigns and activities led by organizations advocating for persons with Down syndrome and their families. We will also hear the inspiring story behind a Filipino film featuring people with Down syndrome in lead roles, straight from the film’s director herself. Before the month of January had ended, hope and mobility was delivered! 💕

A joint medical mission held in Calapan Mindoro helped provide wheelchairs and assistive devices to people who have mobility difficulties. A huge thanks to the Local Government of the City of Calapan, Physicians for Peace, Philippines, LDS, and members of AFPO for collaborating and reaching the community. We also thank all the partners and volunteers that help made this mission a success! 🫶🏼
