Incoming financial support for Filipino politicians usually originates from donations or contributions offered by family, relatives, friends, businessmen, and political parties, unless the politician is affluent prior to seeking office. While some contributions are given without conditions, the majority anticipate favors in return if the politician wins the election.

In the case of former Quezon City District 5 Rep. Alfred Vargas, some speculate that part of his wealth he is enjoying now was alledgely comes from bribes from business and political lobbyists.

This was after a document now circulating in social media reveals a contract deal between Vargas and A.T. Dumlao Construction Inc. who's owner turns out to be Vargas cousin.

This document from DPWH website pertaining to Quezon City DEO Procurement LS on February 01, 2024 shows that Vargas grant the improvement of road and drainage project in San Fernando St. in Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon in Quezon City worth P9, 899, 990.77 to A.T. Dumlao.
