This February, NCDA proudly invites everyone to join the nation in celebrating National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month.

Through Presidential Proclamation No. 157, issued on February 18, 2002, February was officially declared National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month—a time to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and honor the unique abilities, voices, and contributions of persons with Down Syndrome.

This month reminds us that understanding leads to acceptance, and acceptance builds a more inclusive society for all.

Creche Integrated Studies Centre, in partnership with the School Parents and Teachers Association (SPTA), successfully conducted a two-day Seminar-Workshop entitled “Addressing Barriers in Inclusive Education: Equipping Parents and Teachers to Support Learners with Special Needs,” in celebration of National Autism Consciousness Week.

Held on January 23–24, 2026, at the Celebrity Hall, Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City, the activity brought together parents and teachers to strengthen collaboration, build understanding, and promote inclusive learning practices.

January 24, 2026 | Day 2
Day 2 highlighted parental guidance, child protection, and creative approaches to support the holistic development of children with special needs. Sessions equipped families and educators with practical knowledge, advocacy tools, and hands-on strategies to foster inclusive learning environments.

Panel Discussion: Parents and teachers, including Mrs. Jean Gonzales, Rizalio Sanchez, and Dra. Ferdiliza Dandah Garcia, shared valuable insights, personal experiences, and best practices in raising, protecting, and educating children with disabilities.

Speakers:
* Mrs. Jean Gonzales – Parenting children with disabilities
* Chester Mato – Introducing visual arts to children as a healthy alternative to gadget use.
The discussions emphasized the power of collaboration among families, educators, and advocates in promoting child rights, nurturing creativity, and ensuring inclusive learning for all.

𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗡: Ipinaabot ng National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) ang taos-pusong pagbati kay Gng. Felicite Jean Gonzales sa pagkakaloob sa kanya ng Gawad Tandang Sora 2026, bilang pagkilala sa kanyang huwarang adbokasiya at walang sawang paglilingkod para sa mga batang may kapansanan at kanilang mga pamilya.

Noong ika-6 ng Enero 2026, ginunita ng Lungsod ng Quezon ang Tandang Sora Day, isang makabuluhang pagdiriwang na nagbibigay-pugay kay Melchora Aquino, mas kilala bilang Tandang Sora, ang Ina ng Katipunan at simbolo ng tapang, malasakit, at walang kapantay na dedikasyon sa bayan.
